Le Palace de Menthon

Let me preface by saying it is a nice hotel. The staff is polite, the view is spectacular, the location charming.

However, it is not a palace by any means, at least from the inside. The staff is relaxed and not really up to par with the declared 4 star rating. The rooms have a tired and used look, the best part of the room is the bathroom. The balconies are miniscule. If you consider the price you pay for the room, there is a definite need for improvement. I do not care how amazing pool facilities are if I need to walk outside to get to them in winter/early spring, which defies the purpose of relaxing and getting warm in the sauna.

Stay for the view. Or drive by and stay elsewhere, more comfortable.;-)

Cher client,

Our Family spent Four nights at this Palace. This is more of a Palace than a Hôtel. Great Place, the best Location One Imagines. We came at the first night quite late and were accommodated in an internally connected rooms. The location of the first floor as well as the accommodation was not very good so the morning after I have approached the reception desk and received a very warm approach, moved to a great and lovely junior suite. I highly recommend the junior suite for families. We all loved it, even more of much more luxurious hotels. The location is a winner. You are located in this small hotel, in a corner suite, full of great French windows, enjoying the fres air and the Devine view.
The hotel is highly decorated, very easy to park the car in a lot kept for the guests for free.
The surroundings are terrific, you are located on the shore and enjoy a small but private area. Absolutely great.
My kids and us enjoyed the swimming pool, too. The water are warm, so you can really swim and enjoy, this is unique, especially when comparing to other hotels we stayed in.
The breakfast - whether the weather is nice, sit outside in the balcony and have breakfast. It feels like heaven.
Absolutely a great place, the best location, we came with a rented car so we could drop by to Annecy quite easily, but you can also use the ship shuttle that is stopping in a few places.
I have already recommended the place to most of my dear colleagues.
I am thinking of visiting again, though I like to try new places, this is a must come back a hotel.

Stayed two nights on business trip. Fantastic lake views and a beautiful building. Nice indoor pool but the lake is so much better for a swim, bar/restaurant by the lake really good to. Better quality and value than many of the chain hotels in nearby Annecy.

We stayed 3 nights in a room with lake view. the hotel is in a stunning location and the view from the room was superb. The staff were friendly and helpful. Most spoke good English. The room seemed typical and was long and narrow. On the plus side there was a full size bath and a separate WC room. There was a walk in wardrobe. But the living areas was very small, about the size you expect from a Holiday Inn Express, not what you expect from a luxury holiday hotel. The room had cheap battered wooden bedside cabinets and a wooden desk with a hard armchair. There was no settee or other seating. Even the flat screen TV was supported on a cheap wooden table. The style was supposed to be classic and elegant. Worst feature was the tiny double bed. A 1200mm wide bed is a large single not a double for normal sized adults.
There is no air conditioning so the windows had to be opened in the summer heat. The hotel can be surprisingly noisy at times.
The complex telephone in the room, with numerous memory buttons, was totally useless as there was no directory to tell you even how to ring reception.
There was a complex but detailed instruction card on how to get the English and other international TV channels. The instructions said that the TV had to be switched to analogue from Digital. In fact the instructions were garbage and the requisite channels were merely on the higher numbered digital channels.
Breakfast was reasonable if a little chaotic. When major items like bacon, scrambled eggs, cheeses or white bread ran out, the staff appeared to make no attempt to replace them even 45 minutes before the official end of breakfast.
The overall impression was that this hotel was in a management rut. People were filling the hotel because of its beautiful location and no one had to make much effort to improve failing areas.

Room Tip: Most rooms have a lake view which is stunning, but clients need to determine the room size and bed s...

Cher client,

We stayed here for three nights. The room had fantastic views over the lake. There is no air-conditioning so we slept with the balcony doors open which was fine. There is no outdoor pool but there is the lake and access steps which was wonderfully refreshing to swim in, You would probably need a car here to access Annecy and Talloires as the ferry takes ages. We ate at the upstairs restaurant once (great views but indoors) and down at the lakeside bistro twice which was much more to our taste (more casual, great food).

The views from this place are simply stunning! However, you do pay over the odds for the privilege of such an exclusive location. The exclusivity however does mean that you'll need a car in order to travel in to the main town of annecy which is around a 10 minute drive around the lake.

The indoor pool, sauna and bar area are fantastic at this dog friendly hotel but they are located beneath the main hotel grounds and there are A LOT of stairs to get to and from this area.

We had a 6 mixer drinks and a bottle of wine over the 3 days we were there which came to over £100 so, top tip: watch the bar tab closely!

We didn't eat here (because it was shut whenever we wanted to eat - between 2-7pm!) but heard fantastic things from the other guests who chose to eat at the designated times.

Overall, a wonderful place to spend a few days!
