When we arrived Vergezient Lodge was shrouded in mist and we could see nothing of the magnificent scenary that would be revealed over the next two days. We received a warm welcome from Dolly and were shown around the lodge which has a number of public rooms for relaxing or socialising and a heated indoor pool.
Our bedroom was a good size with a good range of fittings and en suite bathroom, and our own area of indoor garden.
Meals were served in the dining room, a full choice of breakfast options started with beautifully presented fresh fruit. The set menu dinners were varied and well balanced over the three nights of our stay, this is not haute cuisine, but good ingredients very well cooked and presented. A good range of wine is available and you can browse the the honesty bar for your selection.
Throughout our stay everyone was very friendly and helpfull, clearly taking their lead from Dolly.
The real star of Vergezient is the location, as this was revealed over the next two days the views are simply stunning in every direction but looking over to the Amphitheatre it sunset was particularly stunning.
The lodge is well placed for visiting Natal National Park and other areas of interest, but there is so much to see and do around the lodge with a range of walks ranging from short gentle strolls to longer more challenging walks up and down kloofs to different levels of the berg. This gives an opportunity to see a reange of birds, animals and a great many flowers.
Overall Vergezient is a wonderful place to relax and unwind
