“Surprisingly nice”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

I guess I was not expecting much at all when we took the kids here. I was thinking it was another one of those "beachy" rip off joints. Boy was I wrong! I was very pleasantly surprised at the variety of displays and the professional layout. I really liked the nature walk.

“Great local aquarium”
Reviewed January 23, 2014

We went to the aquarium today and had a great time. It took about 3 hours and we enjoyed all the exhibits! Even though it was cold the kids wanted to do the nature trail, they had a good time. We also listened to the presentation on the alligator. The speaker did a nice job of teaching kids about alligators. We will go again!

“Small but nice aquarium”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

The Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium is a very well maintained aquarium. It is small enough to go through in an hour, but you could spend more time if you listen to any of their talks or watch a feeding session. Beautiful waterfall in the beginning in their "mountain" section. 3 playful otters always catch my kids attention. There is also a large fish/shark exhibit in a giant tank that includes a sunken U-boat replica (based on an actual sunken U-boat off the coast). The nature talks have always been delivered well, and the staff has always been friendly with my children.

“A nice aquarium....”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

This is a very nice aquarium to see if you are in the area. It is not a destination in of itself to come to the Crystal Coast. IMHO, the sister NC aquarium on Roanoke Island is better. That being said, it is a nice aquarium to visit. They have a very small otter viewing area inside. There is also a submarine "shipwreck' reef tank inside with a variety of small sand tiger sharks and such. Overall, I was not overly impressed after seeing the Roanoke Island aquarium and the Virginia Living Museum in Newport News, VA. My 4-year old loves them all and that's the main point anyway!

“Aquarium-Family Time”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

We had a great time here. Our family has returned to this Aquarium many times. Each season you see new attractions, we like the outdoors areas also. You can see the natural wildlife that live on the seashore. Every time we return to this are we stop by here, to see the new additions.
