It is a good value for your money but more chaotic than I had expected. Too many children and teens running wild! It is overall a decent hotel, rooms are fine though you can hear all the noise from the hallway. Wish there'd been a cupboard in the bathroom for my toiletries. Air con was noisy and leaking water. Bed Mattress was a bit short for my tall husband. The hot pools are lovely, though be warned that many day visitors use them too. I wish there had been even just one area designated for adults only. Lounge chairs were scarce and rickety. The spa is very nice and so are the amenities. Breakfast was excellent, though dinner at the Black Sheep just ok. Reception staff was very friendly though restaurant staff was a but asleep. There was a huge parking lot for the casino but none really for the hotel- ?? Casino was ok but not Vegas! Make a side trip to Greyton, which is nearby and very quaint - better restaurants too! First room we were given stunk of cigarette smoke- luckily we could be changed.

Room Tip: Ground floor is a bit noisy

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. Had a lovely suite "Caledon suite" right at the end of the complex, so a longish walk each time to the central, reception, dining area. The room was perfect and they made a fire when we arrived which warmed both the bedroom and the lounge area. The tv works on a swivel to both the bedroom and the lounge. Lovely open bathroom with big corner bath, shower and closed toilet. Beds are very comfy, outlook is lovely over the valley, quite quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the warm water baths, the rock pools, and especially the natural pool big and warm. There is a good Spa although we did not make use of the treatments, an excellent gym. The Casino is fun if you know how what is going on which we didn't but just enjoyed playing around a bit. The only disappointment was the food, the breakfast is good, you can't go wrong there, but the lunches and dinners - no! There are not many places in town to eat, we went to The Barn and that was better than the hotel. The food was overcooked and tasteless. A real Gordon Ramsay nightmare. with disinterested and untrained staff. If you're not interested in decent cooking and just want a comfy bed and good hot mineral Spa water it is the best.!

Room Tip: If you don't mind the walk, the suites and rooms far from the reception are best, valley facing...

My husband and I booked the Winter Special for the night of Sunday 15th September. We just felt like a break and have always loved Caledon Hotel.
It was always good but is so improved. The staff and facilities are fantastic. We were upgraded to a suite, which made it even more special.
The meals we had were superb. This hotel has a wonderful ambiance. I think that the staff really take care of their guests and make you feel very special. We will definately be returning when we feel we need a break.
The casino area is wonderful and we just enjoy the fun.
To all the managers, front office staff, house keeping, waitrons, gardeners and all those who have to do with the running of the establishment - keep up the good work. It is wonderful.
Thank you again and we will be back soon.
Janet and John:)

We had a nice stay but wasnt to impressed with the stained carpets in the bedrooms, sleep couches needs attention and the bathroom that has a dark shower curtain. The hotel lounge definitely needs a new look as the ambience there looks cold. Overall we enjoyed the entertainment, spa and hot springs.

a visit to the caledon hotel and spa is a real tonic during the cold winter months. The hotel is very comfortable, clean and the rooms as well. We had a very nice room on the ground floor with doors leading out onto the gardens. We also had a small patio with lounger chairs. Unfortunately the weather was cold but the warm baths made up for it. Nothing can beat soaking in the warm mineral baths or taking a jacquzzi in one of the other pools. It is truly food for the soul.
The breakfast which is included in the price is very good with a wide choice of cereals, fruit, eggs,
pancakes, cheeses, cold meats , preserves, pastries and tea and coffee. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Frequent visitor during the winter months to the hotel and spa. Staff is friendly and accomodating and also very helpfull. Stress free and relaxing. Just do not book near the stairs that lead to the rooms that can be very noisy and disturbing. Food on room service menu and breakfast in dining room is very good. Restaurants on premises is ok. Best cocktail at the casino bar I had in a long time. Mineral baths are tidy and spa is a worthwhile visit.

Room Tip: Do not book the first 3 rooms from the stairs that lead to the rooms, very noisy and disturbing.

The rooms are very fancy, each with a LCD television and satellite channels, which makes your stay very cosy. The hotel includes a spa and a gym not to mention the best part of the stay for me, which was the Hot spring pools. There are about 5, the hottest one is located at the top of the hill and is usually about 40 degrees celsius. If you carry on going down the hill there is another pool with a slightly lower temperature ranging about 36 degrees celsius. Each pool gets it's water from the pool above it. If you get to the bottom pool the temperature is about 28 degrees celcius, which is quite cold if you've gone higher. I loved that part of my stay, also because the pools are always open, so you can go in the morning or at night. Once a week all the pools get cleaned and nobody can use them for the day. The hotel and casino are linked meaning you don't have to walk outside to get from the one to the other. The casino isn't very big, but there is an arcade, and a child care facility in the casino building, but none of these facilities are very big compared to bigger casinos found in South Africa. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel and enjoyed every aspect of it, so I recommend it to you!
