There are one of 3 hot spas that we alternate between visiting in winter in the Western Cape and Caledon is one of them.
It is so nice that it is only a short scenic drive from Cape Town so you arrive relaxed and refreshed. There was a slight hiccup at our book in as our room was not cleaned and then once we were settled in our room the concierge knocked on our door to ask whether we could move to another room - we said no but found the whole book in process a little annoying.
Other than that the pools are beyond amazing and so relaxing to spend time in, we alternated between swimming for hours, having an afternoon nap, a stroll in the beautiful surrounds and reading... YES this is a very relaxing place to go to! So if you need to unwind and get away from the city for a night or two I would recommend Caledon.
The breakfast is really great there is something to please everyone's tastes.
Because of our rather awkward check in we were given a free late check out which was really really appreciated as we got to take it easy and enjoy the day before driving back to Cape Town.
The only thing I disliked:
They are usually very well priced in winter however this year things seemed to have changed and we found it a little bit expensive so we only stayed for one day. If it were slightly cheaper I would stay for 2 days and the hotel would actually then make more money - just a suggestion to the hotel to have a discounted weekend package or the expensive per night package.
I would recommend Caledon time and again we totally LOVE the place!!
