Just had delicious early dinner at this quaint pub. Called on spec and all tables were fully booked, but they must have seen the disappointment on our faces so they squeezed us in. We have been here before for lunch so were taken aback to find it so busy, but it is school holidays and Osmotherley is always popular. The pub has a good selection of real ales which accompanied our dinner. The salmon fishcake with spinach was devine and sauce to die for. Chicken kiev was also excellent, with home made chips and salad. Thank you so much for sqeezing us in. We will return preferrably with a booking.

went to Osmotherly for a mooch on a cold Thursday evening. Went into the Golden Lion by chance, what a great choice. Lovely, relaxed, friendly atmosphere, very welcoming.
Amazing food, great friendly service, definitely going back.

If you are a vegetarian your choices for Sunday lunch are generally goat's cheese tart, a vegetable parcel or roast vegetable pasta - but this chef produced a beautifully tasty Roquefort Cheesecake with a pear chutney. Delicious and different. The non veggie in the group had the poussin which was moist and flavourful. All served with Yorkshires, roast potatoes and piping hot vegetables. The dessert menu had at least ten choices and as we all had a different one I can vouch for the fact that at least four of them were delicious. Will certainly visit again

I am so very grateful to The Golden Lion, for accommodating me when I was travelling through Northallerton on my Lands End to John O' Groats. Terrific pub with a lovely atmosphere, great night's sleep had and I had a lovely meal. HIghly recommended, particularly for weary runners. Thanks again Joe Mbu

First time I've stayed here and I would definitely go back. The rooms are stylish and clean, although above the pub there was very little noise. Loved the walk in shower! Some great beers on offer and at £2 for a large bowl of chips we were able to create a perfect post walk snack. Dinner was very good as usual.

Osmotherley is a lovely location for visitong the north York moors, easily accessible, and within driving distance of all the sights. The golden lion was a comfortable base for a few nights stay, with modern and well maintained rooms. We had dinner all 3 nights, as we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the bar and wide range of options to eat. A special commendation should go the service, which was friendly, helpful and very well informed. A highly recommended choice at great value for money.
