“Traditional cooking in a traditional home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2014

Mina is a fantastic hostess and teacher. We were so lucky - my wife and I were the only ones to book, so we had Mina all to ourselves. She's a lovely, thoughtful person - made us feel at home and we engaged in great conversation while we cooked. Learned a lot about Thailand and it's culture. As for the food - fresh ingredients, prepared by us under Mina's tutelage - the results were fantastic.

See Mina when you're in Koh Yao - it will be the highlight of your trip.

“Best part of our trip to Thailand”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2014

Mina invites you into her home and lets you become a member of the family for several hours. She will take you on a culinary journey through Thai food and you'll leave with a great cookbook and all of your new recipes. We lucked out and were the only people in the morning class. We ended up staying around after cooking and exploring the garden with Mina. If you want to go into town afterwards, it's only about a 10 minute walk and Mina will hook you up with a ride home whenever you want. She is an incredibly pleasant and genuine person.

If you go to the Phuket area of Thailand, you should meet Mina.

“An Authentic Taste of Thailand”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2014

We came in with high expectations seeing as the reviews here were high; we weren't disappointed. First off, Mina is one of the nicest, authentic and sweetest person you'll ever meet. You can tell that she puts her heart into what she does. The first thing she tells you as you walk in is, "make yourself at home." At the end of the course, you really do feel like you're at home and that you've been friends with Mina for a long time.

On to the cooking. She teaches you everything from the flavor profiles, where the produce comes from, why some herbs are used over others and adding texture to your meal. It was amazing to learn how to make coconut milk and cream, curry pastes and to just sit back and enjoy your meal while over looking the rice patties.

At the end of the course, we exchanged e-mails, hugs and promises to keep in touch. I genuinely feel that Mina's Cooking Class was the highlight of my trip to Ko Yao Noi and would be one of the main reasons why I would come back to this small Island.

“Much more than just cooking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

An afternoon with Mina is a very special experience - a real taste of Thailand in so many ways. From her beautiful traditional home, with views over the rice fields to the sea, to the expanse of fresh ingredients displayed on arrival, it's not just about cooking. I think we laughed for 3 hours solid, sharing tales back and forth. And she taught us so much about the island, her family, and all things Thai. Quite possibly the most entertaining afternoon we've spent in over 15 years of Thai travel. Just book it, and go with an open mind and heart.

“the best food in thailand - and you made it yourself !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2014

Wow, this is the best thing we have done in several visits to thailand. Within 30 seconds of meeting mina you feel at ease, as if you are one of the family. She is a big hearted lady who is only too pleased to show you how your favourite dishes are made. She introduces you to the ingredients, the majority of which are straight from her garden, then shows you how to turn them into the most amazing meals you will ever eat in thailand. All the while you will hear about local life and the thai culture. Her house is spotlessly clean and bottled water is provided, important issues for us westeners. Highly recommend. You enter as someone paying for a cooking class, and you leave with new knowledge, a belly full of tasty food, and a new friend in the shape of mina herself. Many thanks from alan and debbie x
