If you have children, simply forget this place! We stayed there 3 nights, with our kid of 4 years old, and we felt as soon as we arrived that our child was not welcome at all, despite the fact that we had of course informed the hosts of our family's composition and kid's age. They were really very stressed by the presence of a kid, and very unfriendly, especially her. We had dinner with them one night, the atmosphere was terrible and the dinner only possible thanks to the presence of the other guests. The room was nice, but not worth the price, especially compared with very nice places in the surroundings where half the price is requested. During our stay, our room has only been cleaned once!

I combed through Tripadvisor and found this gem of a B and B. But it is much more than a comfy room and big morning meal. In the tiny village of Merry-sur-Yonne there are no restaurants or shops; this is also the only place to dine which you have to reserve before hand. Owners and now friends, Olivia and Nicolas, invite you into their home and around the table for a delightful feast and conversation. The main building has dozens of antique touches while the four guest chambers are modern and uncluttered. It was too chilly to try the pool. The location is a bit off the beaten path but completely worth the drive.

We stayed in Le Charme Merry on our trip from Maastricht to Malaga on July 20 2012. We got the Vézelay room, which at that time was not yet in the website of this B&B. This room is in the main building and has a large private bathroom. The main building is an old farmhouse, which has been perfectly renovated by Olivia and Nicolas, the owners of Le Charme Merry. The other rooms are in the new annex building, situated next to the large pool.

We enjoyed the dinner, prepared by Olivia in the best traditions of the French cuisine. We were seated between two couples from Flanders and one couple from Walloon and were happy to form a linguistic bridge between them. Breakfast next day was excellent with fresh and home made products.

We definitely recommend Le Charme Merry.

This charming, comfortable and welcoming respite with all modern conveniences is worth a stay.
The hamlet is the picture perfect, the rooms are magnificent and the meals could not have been more wonderful.

Room Tip: Each room had its own charm. The incredible tub made me feel like Marie Antoinette in her luxury.

We were very lucky to find Le Charme Merry and even luckier that there was just one room remaining for the night we wanted to stay, which happened to be the first night of a three week holiday and property search across south-west France. Merry-sur-Yonne is a hamlet close to Auxerre in north-west Burgundy and so makes a perfect stop-over when driving down from the Channel to Languedoc and Provence or back home. It's all in the name: Merry being a post card perfect village at the confluence of river and canal, but equally this stylish maison d'hotes is a very merry place to be given that its hosts Olivia and Nicolas Peron welcome you as if they have known you for many years. Their artisitic and creative lives have enabled them to make this rare find as charming as it is merry. They have developed four generously proportioned bedrooms and en-suites (circa 40M2) that are as stylish as they are comfortable. Olivia and Nicolas have paid great attention to detail to achieve a calm and contemporary mood. No expense has been spared in the quality of stonework, lighting, decor and ensuite, which includes a monumental stone basin, Italian shower and Compagnie de Provence toiletries. There is lovely pool to enjoy in a relaxed garden setting that makes you feel relaxed as soon as you set foot through the door. Be sure to pre-book dinner: aperitifs are served in the shade of the tree and dinner itself is either al fresco in the pretty courtyard or inside beneath chestnut and oak beams, depending on the season. Both Nicolas and Olivia are talented cooks, each with their own specialities. Dinner was delectable - an excellent combination of flavours and textures, with lots of little treats. Better still, wine is included! We were the only British guests that night, the others being smart Parisiens escaping the city for the weekend; hosts and guests alike were convivial and entertaining and the evening passed in a trice. This is wonderful place to stay either to break a longer journey or as a base to discover Burgundy and we shall look forward to staying there whenever we can.

Room Tip: The rooms aren't classified as suites but they are oversized and the ground floor rooms have the...

We just came back from France and looking back we remember our stay with Nicolas and Olivia as a highlight of our trip. Nicolas is a designer and a photographer, and he did a marvellous job on the old house. The rooms are beautifully decorated in a wonderful combination of an old farm with modern facilities. But most important is that you get to know your hosts: friendly, warm and gracious people who are willing to share their house and to spend their evenings with you at a delicious dinner that they cook together.

Room Tip: We loved our room with a state of the art aquatic shower. It was on the first floor - St Bris.

This is the simply the best chambre d´hote in the Yonne region of Burgundy. A stay at Olivia and Nicholas wonderful guest house should not be missed if you are planning to visit this part of France. The rooms are beautifully desgined and Olivia and Nicholas are warm, wonderful and welcoming hosts (speaking good English for those Brits that dont have much French). A pre dinner drink in the evening sunshine in the the charme merry garden is a real pleasure, then there is also the swimming pool and the electric bike....... nice breakfast, comfortable bed and a fun place to stay - go on give it a wirl!
