this is an excellent chambre d'hote. We have just spent a very happy week there and enjoyed it. The house and room were comfortable with a simple but efficient shower. Breakfasts were elegant and different each day. Parking is easy as is the walk into the town centre. But best of all were Madame Sylvie and Monsieur Mario. Friendly, interesting, good on local history :nothing w

This was our first of a chambre d'hote ... and what an experience.

We arrived early evening without having booked, Although our French and Mario's english are not excellent we managed to communicate perfectly.

The room was quaint, comfortable and quintessentially french with a good sized bathroom.

The host was most welcoming and charming. We enjoyed a pleasant exchange over a glass of beer in his beautiful garden. Mario told us much about Soissons and in particular the many restaurants we might like to visit.

Breakfast was delicious and comprised croissants, bread, home made jams, fruit, yoghurts and coffee ... and for my wife a lovely pot of tea. The breakfast room was a delight and beautifully decorated.

We would highly recommend La Dorlotine to any discerning visitors ... and parking was on the road right outside.

We will return!

We had a very comfortable stay in this lovely B&B. Our room was large, clean and comfortable and the location was walking distance to the town. Perfect. M. Roncoroni is a very pleasant and accommodating host and most interesting to talk with. We learned so much about the area we were visiting. We would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone traveling in this area of France.

Overall: M. Roncoroni was a charming, welcoming and very knowledgeable host. He told us all sorts of fascinating titbits about the region and its history and some of its legends too.
Check-in: M. & Mme Roncoroni live in the B+B so you'll likely find someone in whenever you arrive. I like to give B&B owners advance warning anyway just so they aren't tied to the house waiting.
Language: French. M. Roncoroni knows at least some English, but I like French so that's the language we used.
Space/decor: The B&B was in a traditional style with numerous antiques. We were given a large attic room with a double bed, small desk and a sofa. There was plenty of space for everything we had and more. The ensuite bathroom was modern with all the necessities.
Noise: We didn't hear anyone else; I'm not sure there were other guests present; it was, afterall, the first week of school in France. There was definitely some traffic noise, but it wasn't excessive.
Comfort: The bed was fine.
Cleanliness: excellent
Heat/ac: There was a ventilation unit of some sort in the room. We needed neither heat nor a/c so we didn't test it out.
Internet/TV: I don't think there's internet and I don't remember a TV. The electrical outlets are easy to access for recharging gadgets.
What I would change: Actually, I can't think of anything.
Breakfast: fruit, yogurt, croissants, baguettes, butter, jam, o.j., tea and coffee
Parking: We had no trouble finding a parking spot right outside the B&B.
Distance to attractions: right next to the abbey ruins and easy walking distance to the town centre.
