“Excellent stay and service”
Reviewed April 29, 2012

We've escaped here for our wedding anniversary and got upgraded to a suite, a thank you to the staff and management!

A good 5 hours drive from Dubai which was certainly worth the effort to do. One of the things we enjoyed was the day next to the pool, fruit coming past in intervals and the water enjoyable. Friendly waiting staff and quick to put up the umbrellas. A pity the Breeze Bar wasnt open and too much hassle to get up and walk into the restuarant to order a beer.

Agree the beach is a bit of a walk but such a nice view from there, can see they are still waiting for the whole development to get up and running. Watch the sunset with a glass of wine was stunning.

Day out with Jessabeach tours, dolphing watching, a pod of at least 50-80 dolphins with-in 15 minutes out from the Marina. Snorkelling at a spot afterwards and saw a lot of beautifull fish and sea turtle. Once done we went for a picnic and lunch on the beach for the afternoon lounging and eating, what a peaceful setting. Excellent service but be sure it will cost you a bit, hotel manager confirmed they are tryIng for cheaper rates.

The first room we stayed in, beautiful view over the marina but the aircon didnt work, and they quickly moved us to a different suite with a bit of the view still. Bedding and room lay out is excellent with enough space to get around. The Nespresso machine for coffee in the suites is a nice add-on. Rooms are of quality, just a pity the 4th floor doesn't have lift acces for the middle,
so had to carry a portion of my bags down to the trolley downstairs on the way to check-out.

The restuarant food is good and the a la carte menu has got a nice variety. A bit dissapointed with the buffet as the selection for the meat was limited. Breakfast over the week-end was a good sprad and tasty, during the week days certainly down sized due to the amount of visitors. Unfortunately did not get to the fish restuarant so cant comment on that though.

None of the spa facilities are open yet and we will try that once it is available when we do go
back.

If you want to see any of Muscat do it before or after your visit. The drive there is stunning throughh the mountains and it reminds us of the range in Namibia between Sesriem and Walvisbay, stunning, such a difference from the flat of Dubai and surrounds.

This could have been such a great relaxing weekend away. The hotel is beautiful and the reception staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, too many things went wrong for us and the service in the only restaurant is so bad it's infuriating and does not come close to what should be offered at such a nice hotel. Requests (and you need to make a lot of them) are met with total confusion and lengthy delays.
The drive from Muscat is farther than you think. It may only be 45km but the route is slow and winds through the Mountains. This does however make for a scenic drive in. Once at the hotel we checked in and made our way to our room to find someone sleeping on the bed! We were promptly moved to a new room, which was very comfortable until we turned on the air conditioning at night. This sounded like it was powered by a jet engine and made for a sleepless night. Following our complaints the next morning we were upgraded to a suite. The reception staff were very helpful and apologetic and did mention that all A/C units in the hotel were being serviced next week.
The rooms are very nicely decorated, the beds very comfortable and the balconies have nice views either across the pool area or marina. Beware closing the doors behind you when sitting out on the balcony. Ours jammed and we had to cry down to some passers by to call reception to let us out!
The swimming area is great to relax by but we found the beach to be a disappointment and not very clean when we visited. We were also disappointed with the lack of restaurant facilities. The pool bar does not serve juice so we were told to go to the restaurant if we wanted juice. The fish restaurant is a good walk from the hotel and the other bar advertised on the website is not open yet. The food in the one restaurant is very good when it arrives but by then you are feeling annoyed by the poor waiting service.
If the restaurant service improves and the A/C is fixed, this hotel would be a great place to come and relax. Unfortunately, it's not quite there yet.

I went there with my boyfriend and his parents. It was a lovely retreat!
The staff are attentive. Food was very nice.
The only problem was the air-conditioning, it was very noisy we couldn’t hardly sleep specially the old couple.
The beach is nice. We had fun collecting shells, but had to be careful as the shore is rocky.
Overall it was an impressively peaceful place. We were really tempted to stay extra night but then we still have 4 hours drive to see the sea turtles on the next day!

Room Tip: As we couldn't find the shower at the pool area, we're very glad that we have our rooms next...

My family and I stayed for ten days in two rooms in the Sifawy Hotel over Easter and found it the place perfect for a break if you just want to unwind and enjoy some sun. The rooms we stayed in were quite spacious with large balconies (one with a double-bed sized sun lounger) and because the hotel resort has only recently opened everything still feels brand new.
The hotel in a 45 minute journey from Muscat and you definitely need to hire a car if you are planning only staying a reasonable length of time.
The whole resort of Jebel Sifah is at the early stages of a 20 year development. The marina is being officially opened in a few weeks and presently was completely empty. It has very carefully been planned that no building works are in view anywhere around the hotel and marina and the whole hotel and its facilities have been finished to a four / five star standard.
Currently there are only two places to eat; the main hotel restaurant (with seating inside and out) and a delightful seafood restaurant on the beach (only opened at lunch times). For a family of five we found the food expensive, but when this was mentioned to the manager on the first day he switched us to full board (something we would never normally consider) and this worked out to be much better value for money.
Even though we visited during the Easter "peak period" we were often the only people sitting on the beach. In fact the whole resort was pretty empty, so if you like lots of hustle and bustle you might want to consider somewhere in Muscat.
Weighing up the experience of this holiday with other Easter breaks we've had to Egypt, Florida, Barbados and South Africa I would say our stay at the Sifawy Hotel in Oman was the most relaxing, definitely the hottest and after switching to full board, good value for money.

An hours drive south of Muscat through mountainous scenery on a new road. The marina complex is not running so the hotel provides a quiet haven away from the rush of daily life. The rooms are a reasonable size, with huge bed and shower/wet area, no bath. Food is reasonable to good and breakfast buffet is first rate. Service was excellent and friendly, as you would expect from the Omani people. The pool and surroundings is fine but might be a bit small if the hotel was truly full. The beach area is 200m walk and could do with a coffee shop and a bit of care, maybe that will come as the complex gets up to speed.

We spent two nights at the Sifaway last week. Our stay had its ups and downs but was overall a pleasant experience. The hotel is in a resort complex that is still being constructed. The environment seems like a work-in-progress and our impression of the hotel was that although the construction is finished and the hotel is operational, it's new and still working on routines.

On arriving at the hotel we were not greeted outside the lobby but inside the staff was pleasant and attentive. Our suite was a long walk down one hall, an elevator ride up two flights and then another walk and climb up a flight of stairs. Elevators don't serve the part of the 4th floor where our suite was located. The room itself was very nice, spacious, with a European feeling to the ambiance and furnishings. Our balcony was large and private, despite overlooking the pool and marina. Some of the amenities mentioned on the website were not in evidence - no butler service, the room was not serviced twice daily. A fruit platter was delivered shortly after our arrival. Since wireless internet is available only with an extra charge I can't comment on its functionality.

The swimming pool is very nice, a relaxing ambiance. It was quite crowded during the daytime as this was school spring break week. Many children were in evidence at the pool as the weather was also beginning to heat up.

We had two dinners and two breakfasts at the hotel's restaurant. All meals were buffet style. There was an a la carte menu available but we didn't look at it. The buffets were plentiful and average for restaurants in this region, the first night being an Asian stir-fry theme and the second night being Italian.

The hotel itself was very quiet and relaxing, if a bit inconsistent in the finer details. The area of Sifa Beach is beautiful, and the complex that the hotel is located in has a designated beach area but it is a several minute walk from the hotel itself. When this complex is complete it looks like it will be quite a destination for holidays outside of Muscat.

When we arrived after a long drive from the UAE through the beautiful mountains towards the hotel we were not sure about where the reception was. There was no sign. Perhaps an idea to place this. There was nobody outside to help us with our baggage, but after we entered the reception they helped us. We were upgraded to a suite, which was nice. The bathroom did not have a bathtub, they informed us that the whole hotel didn't have bathtubs. Maybe its an initiative to help the environment. I was just a bit disappointed since I love going in the tub to relax. The AC on the livingroom side was not working. We called about it, and they said they would follow up. Still the next day no follow up. At the end of the second day the AC got fixed. These things happen, but its really important that you keep the communication open with your guest about the status. If the guest needs to follow up the whole time, irritation starts. The food buffet was very good, good quality and a decent variety. The hotel is beautifully located at the coast, and nice and calm. There is not much to do, but we were looking for some rest, so we liked that. Staff members are friendly, and have the right attitude, though in consistency in service level, they need more training and guidance from the management. (Assuming they know what they are doing) The second day (Friday) we stopped and looked forward to a seafood lunch at the seafood restaurant, close by the hotel, which turned out was part of the hotel. It was packed, and a few tables were vacant, but dirty, and they told us we needed to wait. We got a table, and the manager (who looked stressed) told us that we had to wait "a while". After 1 hour we still did not have our food. People were complaining that it took to long, there was even a couple who waited for 2 hours and did not get any food. Totally unacceptable. Friday's are busy, yes, but than you have to add more staff to let things run smoothly. Its not that you hlf your prices because its Friday and you cant offer decent service, right? Hungry, we went back to the hotel, and the FO manager offered us a late lunch from the buffet, which was a nice gesture.

Overall a nice hotel, but not organised. In comparison with the service level in the UAE, Oman still has a lot of catching up to do. But with the right attitude, I am sure they will get there.
