We rented a 3 bedroom townhome at Elk Ridge and found the resort to be an overall nice place with plenty of amenities for everyone.

We played all 3 golf courses and enjoyed them all. They are each unique and have their own challenges, including plenty of wildlife. The wives enjoyed the spa even though they both complained that they spa treatments didn't last their full advertised times. The restaurants and pubs onsite served good food at a price you would expect from a resort such as this. The variety to choose from was nice and we ate at both a few times.

Our biggest complaint about the resort was the service. Nearly everyone we talked too was very young in age and working at the resort for the summer. Many times it felt that they cared more about talking to each other about upcoming parties that evening or if they would be able to get on the golf course that afternoon and completely ignored the paying customers. We had one run-in with a young member of the golf staff who hit a golf ball into our townhome without any type of warning (a fore would have sufficed) while we were outside and had an attitude when we said something to him. His response was "work here, live here, get over it". Not what I'd expect from a staff member, whether on duty or off.

The townhomes are nicely furnished, if you plan to do any cooking or grilling, make sure you bring plenty of staples though, as the townhome we were in didn't have much to work with.

We have been here several times this past year, for business and pleasure, we go enjoy it here but a pool and fitness facility is important to us when we travel, We visted last December and though the gym has 2 Elliptical and 2 Treadmills and a good variety of weights etc, it was dirty and only one of the cardio machines worked properly if you could get past the jerking of the treadmill until it started moving. it was neat at first when you looked in, the areas on the machines where we wipe off were clean but there were sweat drippings and dust and stuff all over the machines. The elliptials clunked and whined and as guests we all had to rush to the gym to get the "one" good treadmill, I was not the only guest unsatified. Now remember this is December, we visited in January, March and June and there were still NO repairs to equipment except for the "do not use sign" on one machine but the others were still in the same sad state. Again,, there were guests commenting that they have to wait for others to be done to use the "one "machine. People may laugh that we are on vacation and a gym doesn't matter, but it was to a good many of us and just some simple upkeep good raise the bar for this otherwise beautiful resort and maybe make it a 5 star

Went on a family trip and we rented 2 cabins.

They were clean and comfortable.
The temperature was a little hard to get a handle on as we found people sleeping by the fire were boiling and needed the AC were as the rest of the cabin was frozen sleeping with sweaters on. I think this was just from too many people messing with the AC/thermostat though. (But it was the case in both cabins).

For the price the cabins could be a little bit fancier. They were a little rundown in the decor but everything was clean and worked.

One thing we really missed at a cabin was a fire pit. It would have been nice to have a fire pit somewhere on the grounds.

The lodge pool was a hit with everyone especially with the large water slide!
It would have been nice to have an outdoor pool for lounging during the day onsite but we compensated by paying the toll and going into Waskesui for the beach there or to Emma Lake sort of near by. Not their fault but it also would have been nice if the water out front was swim-able or they at least had kayaks or something to make use of it!

If you are a golfer this is the place for you! We went for visiting family and we aren't big golfers but everyone we talked to was very excited about the golfing! But even without golfing we really enjoyed it here!

The Elk Ridge Golf Course is a challenging yet enjoyable course which is almost always in amazing shape. Our group spent 2 days golfing and the cabins were fantastic, as was the food at the main resort. A definite recommend for any serious golfer.

Room Tip: Get one of the cabins with a hot tub, as it definitely pays off after playing 36 holes!

Really enjoyed our stay overall, lovely rooms and views, and nice walking trails nearby.

Cons:
a) the sheets for our king sized bed were not appropriate for the mattress, and kept slipping off during the night. For the price of our stay, I would expect appropriately purchased sheets??
b) if you're staying on a weekend, be aware that there WILL be a wedding - if your room is a "pond view" you'll hear them partying until 12 or 1am.
c) staff definitely all seemed new, and not quite as...polished...as I would expect? I assume they get new, young people every summer though so not really holding it against them.

Next time I'd definitely consider staying in Waskesiu Lake though, to have more options for eating etc. I'm sure the spa was nice but was too packed and couldn't get an appointment, due to the weddings.

Pool/hot tub area was lovely and relaxing! And wasn't very busy most times.

Room Tip: Pond view rooms can be loud, if there's a wedding (assume there will be in the summer)
