Only a short distance from Kuala Lumpur, a lot of stuff to do (think Vegas in Malaysia), and absolutely beautiful rooms and view! Service is a little to be desired, but overall a great experience. A little bit of a shame that the shops tended to be very American, but there was also some local flavor to be had.

Poor attitude of reception staff, lack of WIFI and trying to charge you for any small inconvenience to them was our experience.
Unfortunately this hotel is not a 4/5 star by any stretch of imagination
Rooms are good size and bathroom is big and that is were the good points end.
Breakfast was ok although they do charge for small children so ensure you get a deal which has breakfast for the whole family and not just 2 adults.
The lobby looks like a market place and although they charge you for one exclusivity is definitely missing.
Another thing to note is they tell you about snack bar on arrival which is a complete lie.

Room Tip: Keep your expectations down

First and foremost, this hotel cannot be considered to be a 5 star hotel. It may be the best hotel in Genting but it did not live up to a 5 star hotel in terms of standard and quality. The rooms are spacious and large and beds comfortable. However, this hotel is rather old and in need of serious refurbishment. Although the rooms have apparently been refurbished, it is still rather basic and there appears to be red blotches on the walls which we were told is a result from the wall paper glue affecting all the rooms.

The best thing about this hotel is the Olive restaurant. Food is good and service friendly and professional.

Stay here is you want to make a trip to Genting and lower your expectations if you expect 5 star accomodation similar to what you can get in the capital city Kuala Lumpur.

Room Tip: Try and get the rooms closer to the lifts. They are more spacious than the ones further down the cor...

We initially really wanted to stay at the first world hotel but that was completely booked. So Maxim was are second choice. We weren't sure how it would be but it pleasantly surprised us. The rooms were beautifully decorated - Modern, New and Warm. The hotel was very classy and didn't have the theme world vibe which we really appreciated. It was a more grown up sort of place to stay which was again a plus. The television was fabulous it had great channels and kept us entertained. The rooms had strange red paint marks on the walls which kinda freaked us out a bit. We also noticed that the beds had bugs. These were the only two negatives. But other then that its a top notch hotel. Its a great place to stay when visiting genting highlands.

Great hotel! Clean and well organized items for guests. Very considerate. Titbits, drinks and cards are free when entering. Beds and Pillows are comfortable. Had a good night sleep at Maxims. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Choose higher levels. You get good view of the mountaineous Pahang
