I had booked 1 night stay in July 2009 ans was staying with my family.

It took us almost 2.5 hours for checkin. For the first time in my life i haveseen a such a big queue for check in.

The hotel has almost 6000 rooms and since the hotel rates are cheap and it has a casino and amusement park attached we preferred this hotel.

We were provided the room on the 27 floor and it has excellent view...we could just see fog out there.

Its a good hotel at at reasonable price for budget travellers

When my travel agent booked me in this hotel for my honeymoon stay, I knew what was coming as I had read the reviews in triapadvisor. Even though I asked the travel agent to change the hotel he could not as rooms were not available else where.

Well this hotel as you would have already read by now has 6000+ rooms! imagine the crowd and the confusion. But I must admit the hotel operations are managed well. But even all that efficient operations could not reduce our check in time below 1 hour! On top of that all the bell boys were busy and we had to carry our own luggage.

About the room, we got a deluxe superior room although their was nothing superior about the room. It was very small and dimly lit.

A word of caution-dont go for breakfast late or else you will be greeted by dirty tables and soiled plates besides you will be lucky if you have a decent breakfast.

Check out was easy as they have kiosks but again the bell boys were not available had to carry all our luggage.

This hotel is just a very big budget hotel thats it. strictly not for honeymoon couples or rather couples in general. More suited for families I guess. Only advantage is the theme parks and other amusements are easily accessible through escalators.

We have just returned from a four night stay at this resort hotel in the Genting Highlands and the experience was ruined by smoking in areas that were meant to be non-smoking.

We had wanted to stay in the Resort Hotel but were unable to do so because of heavy bookings so our agent in Singapore booked us into the First World hotel with a Deluxe View room. We specifically requested a non-smoking room on a non-smoking floor.

When we arrived after a six and a half hour coach trip we had to wait a further three hours in the group check in area, to check in. This would have to be the slowest check in procedure we have experienced anywhere in the world - and as we are seasoned travellers we have visited cities such as Las Vegas where the check-in is fast and efficient.

Having got to the counter to check-in we were then told that the only Deluxe View rooms on non smoking floors left, were in Tower One, the older block. We had to accept this and were put in room 24 780. The room was tatty and in need of renovation but adequate.

Over the next four nights we had to put up with the smell of cigarette smoking coming through the bathroom ventilation system into our room, at all hours of the day and night.

We rang house keeping on several occasions and all they offered to do was send some one up to spray deodorant. We requested that someone from security come up to the floor and ask the culprits to stop. Nothing happened and nobody came - the smoking continued.

On one of the days we came across a man happily smoking in the 24th floor corridor (in clear view of house keeping and other staff going about their chores). I asked him to stop smoking and he did. None of the First World hotel staff had policed this.

We never saw any security on our floor the whole time of our stay. Most of them seemed to be on the third floor or lobby areas, lounging around reading newspapers or talking on their mobile phones. They should have been patrolling the guest floors from time to time.

The same lack of policing and non adherence by customers took place in the designated non smoking public spaces, such as First World's Times Square stage area.

There was a choir with Santa performing for the children when we were there and a man stood amongst the assembled children puffing away on his cigarette - much to the annoyance of the other parents I noted. Again the security staff did nothing as they sauntered by.

People need to be asked at check-in if they smoke. If they do put them on the smoking floors, not the very few (3) floors reserved for non smokers .

We have always been told that the non smoking areas are fully filled when we arrive and, after insisting that we get the non smoking room we requested, have found these supposedly non smoking floors and rooms full of smokers. The hotel reception staff are not doing their room allocations as they should.

Something needs to be done about the hotel's group check-in processing for bus/tour groups. The performance standard should be half and hour at most. Expecting people to mill around for two to three hours in a small holding area with insufficient seating is simply not acceptable.

Based on the experience we had, we will not be going to the Genting Resort again. The hotel's performance is clearly sub standard and the non smoking policy a joke.

You won't regret choosing the World Club Room. It worth a penny for being big room with full amenity. No long wait during check in as there's a separate queue for club room hardly with more than 5 person in the queue. No need to squeeze with others for breakfast where you could have your breakfast at the executive lounge. Only was the hotel service was not up to it standard. Could not even supply a baby cot even I wrote to them 1 month ahead before my trip. No one turn up even I complaint on the safe not working although the housekeeping got my message.
Not recommended to travel there during the peak period. Every where were crowded with people, long queuing for games in the theme park and food as well. The food and water were over price although some restaurant do provide very nice dinner.

I will never stay in this hotel again. There are just too many people staying there, and everywhere you go is very noisy. The rooms are not sound proof, we could hear sounds from people staying next door: closing of rooms, yawning loudly, sounds of TV, etc. The worst thing is, we could smell smoke from people's cigarettes every now and then. The TV programmes offered and breakfast choices are rather limited. Services are not very good as well. E.g. we requested for an extra pillow but was informed that they didn't have extra. Our TV was not plugged in and the staff just used a pencil to poke the plug hole and plug the two-pinned plug in, not very safe. However, if you just want an accommodation with low prices, this should be fine.

I'm simply in awe after visiting and staying at the First World in Genting Highlands! The place was full to capacity and it has at least 15000 rooms, and more people trying their luck to get a room and yet they are so efficient and good. You don't get luxury in a regular room, unless you book a suite or a deluxe, but you're not going to be in your room, are you, in Genting!??
The most amazing part was to watch how they organized serving the breakfast buffet on the 8th level, and that too at peak season with the hotel going beyond full capacity! Simply impressive!!
Everything was so smooth and we really didn't need anyone or anything, because this hotel has good experience and makes arrangements for everything.
What can work better (in fact, in the whole of Malaysia) is for more INFORMATION, free maps, etc. to be put around the place to assist tourists.
