Being an avid cyclist and trekker, I love visiting the places where you have a scope for both and when a holiday plan to the hill station of Resorts World Genting came along, I couldn’t resist the temptation. My friends booked the stay for 3 days at the Awana Genting Highlands, a popular resort there. Antilog Vacations website gave us a very good Malaysia deal at bulk rate( including KL) & was a reasonable tour package.Located between the Selangor and Pahang states of Malaysia at an altitude of close to 2000 mt, the place as well as the hotel (which came under the purview of Awana chain of resorts & hotels) is operated Genting Malaysia Berhad (formerly known as Resorts World Bhd).

Our room was in the tall tower building bordering the reception area and was six or seven levels in height and had awesome panoramic views. Our next door neighbours who incidentally were leaving when we arrived were experienced travellers and had stayed in a number of resorts and they too recommended the place highly as we entered our room.

It was a grand room with an exotic looking carpet which covered the 500 sq ft area in almost its entirety. The resort had both rooms and condo/apartment types. Our superior deluxe hotel room located on the top floor had a balcony with breathtaking view of the green tropical forest and with cool breeze blowing; the evenings were well spent even staying indoors.

The travel operator guy showed us around the hotel and gave us trips to some nearby places like the serene 9-hole Awana Golf Resort. Moreover as the Genting Highlands serve as the end point of the concluding stage in the famous Tour de Langkawi cycling race, I personally requested the manager to arrange for a trip to the same and I was delighted when he complied with my request.

Thus friendly people and an eager tour operator gave us the perfect stay at Awana.

We played golf here for two days. Excellent mountain course. Ofcourse it rains here everyday, but that is part of the fun. The course has a few challenging holes.

The restaurants offer very good food and can customize to your tastes. We had a big banquet style dinner and the food was served promptly. All our needs were met without even asking. Have great memories of this resort and highly recommend this place on your next visit to Genting.

Did not use other amenities, so unable to comment on them.

Oct 2012. Reception staff pleasant and efficient. Ushered quickly to tower room [$60 AUS] on 20th floor, overlooking the golf course. Sun-filled, mid-sized room… huge bed. Generous bathroom…shower over bath. Room, and bathroom, serviced very well by cleaning staff.
Rajawali Coffee House, for breakfast, is very large, roomy, and airy, with one side [for smokers] open to the elements. Many food options, both Asian and Western. For golfers, the scenic, challenging course dries out quickly, and suitable for play about 2 hours after heavy rain. Golfers Terrace is handy for snacks… many nice, freshly-cooked, selections available. Smallish Pro Shop is well stocked, with reasonable prices.
Around the hotel…Flavours Café, near the hotel entrance is just right for late-night snacks, and good ice-cream…manager eager to please. Pool is good size for large hotel, with plenty of lounging area. Massage, from 11.00 am, is very professional, and gym very good in size and facilities. Awana Genting Highlands has plenty of room to sit and relax. Our third stay…and our most pleasant!

Room Tip: Tower rooms quite roomy, but older rooms on lower floors are enormous, with old but cosy interiors.

We had a really pleasant overnight stay here.We were really sorry to leave the hotel early coz our schedule was tight.I really missed the heated pool and a relaxed walk in the evening since we came late from Gentings and had to leave early in the morning.Three of us stayed in a superior delux and of cause it can comfortably accommodate four! We only paid for the extra breakfast!Breakfast was really good with a variety. Only drawback was that we had to wait for more than one hour (nearly 90 min) to get the shuttle bus form skyway station to hotel. But the return shuttle was on time.

Spent a night at this hotel. Great hospitality and excellent services. Helpfull and friendly staffs. Tthe only issue was the hairs we found on the bathroom floor when we checked in. But that is something that we can live with. I would definately recommend others to come and stay. Looking forward to come and stay here again

I just came back from an overnight stay at Awana. I drove up from KL with my hubby, my 1-year-old and my maid. We met up with my elder sister, her mother-in-law, her husband, her 1-year-old and her maid there, and all of us shared a total of 3 deluxe rooms, 2 of them adjoining. The rooms were clean and everything functioned well. They provided lovely little details like complimentary toothbrushes, shaver, and even cotton buds. Hair dryer, iron and ironing board were already available in the room. Having a 1-year-old, I really appreciated the in-built anti-slip texture of the bathtub!

Service was prompt. We asked for an extra towel and it was delivered shortly after. My sister, who checked out 2 hours before we did, left her baby bathtub in their room. We called Housekeeping to check and half an hour later, we were able to pick it up at checkout. Sleep was a little loud, however, because from the 12th floor, we could still hear the band from the lounge playing till late. Luckily my baby sleeps through any sound.

I was a bit disappointed by the western offerings of the breakfast buffet, but my husband appreciated the vegetarian offerings and my maid will always favour rice (both nasi lemak and nasi dagang were served). Other restaurants at the hotel are obviously pricey. The pool-side cafe & lounge had very generous portions, however, making the food worth the price if you share. We were sad to have only discovered the Terrace for our last meal at Awana. Again, it was pricey, but the best meal we had at the hotel (banana leaf set and dry wantan mee) and the friendliest service provided! To find the place, from the reception, take the stairs! Generally, I recommend driving to Gohtong Jaya for a good meal: Ratha serves excellent roti telur and fishhead curry.

Of course, what's a stay at Genting with a kid if we didn't stop by the Genting Theme Park? Awana has a shuttle to First World Hotel, directly adjoining the theme park, and a shuttle to the Skyway (cable car). We decided to take the skyway, which was certainly enjoyable, but it took a while to get to the theme park from the Genting station of the Skyway. If you're short on time, take the direct shuttle.

The best part of staying at Awana was the jacuzzi and wading pool. The water was a lovely temperature, and my baby loved the bubbling and spraying water! The slide looks awesome, and we wished that there wasn't a height limit of 4 feet! There was no hot water in the changing rooms though, which made showering my baby at/near the pool not possible.

We loved our stay and will probably go again when Hanif is taller and able to get on more rides at the theme park!

We stayed for 3 nights, bt its really far from the main theme park, So you have to do up n down the roads.
And we took a bigger room, bt it was no use as we were told later, that Awana is far from the park.So we had to take a taxi at night to reach r hotel n come back to have our dinner.
So I would suggest one takes a hotel in the theme park only to save time.

Room Tip: Choose if you are looking for a relaxed holiday with your kids and going less to the theme park.
