“A humbling experience”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

We have all heard of the battle of El Alamein, but it is hard to imagine the true sacrifice without visiting this lovingly tended CWGC cemetery. Marking the pivotal point when Britain began to believe that they could overcome Germany along with their allies, this was the result of Montgomery’s order ‘No retreat.’ Would that we were able to do as much in the future if the cause was right. We have all heard of the battle of El Alamein, but it is hard to imagine the true sacrifice without visiting this lovingly tended CWGC cemetery. “If you are a history buff you will like it”
Reviewed December 6, 2013

The museum is small and not high tech, but there is a tremendous amount to learn in this small, far corner of the world. It is amazing to stand in this dusty, little place thousands of miles from home and realize that it is connected with the US and Europe and other allies through war. Nearby land mines are still occasionally found. You come away with the long lasting and far reaching impact of war.

“Talking about war and ghosts of the past”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

Visiting El Alamein Commonwealth War Cemetery, we had a perfect lesson about how WW2 was in the area. Couple of nice young military showed us a dynamic map of the troop movements during the desert war. Then our guide, Sahel from Egypt Tours Portal, told us about the weapons exposed inside and outside of the museum, about history and Egyptian soldiers. Outside, you can see and handle the old powered guns, even a plane.
Did you know … only one half of the old minefield was cleaned, the other half is still active and sometimes kills unlucky people …

Reviewed June 7, 2013

a very interesting museum, full of memories of the battle and of the Armies that were fighting 2nd world war in North Africa. It is organized by sector, dedicated the first to Italian Royal Army, the second to German Afrika Korps and the Allied 8th Army.
Provides a lot of hints to the person that studies this historical period and to the fan on 2nd ww militaria
