Owner description: On the eastern side of the Etna volcano, in the woods of the National Park and facing the sea of Taormina, the Gambino vineyards are a pleasure for your senses and for your heart. A Pleasure for your sight, because they represent one of the best models of Etna vineyards of high altitude: in an exclusive natural environment, at 800 meters above sea level, the vineyards lay on sunny and airy terracing that have a breathtaking panorama. A pleasure for your sense of smell, for the unmistakable perfumes of the volcano vegetation. A pleasure for your heart, because the vineyards and wine are great passion that, for over twenty years, involves and guides the Raciti Gambino family.

“Outstanding wine tasting and lunch!”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

The front desk staff at Hotel Villa Ducale recommended a wine tasting at Gambino Winery located on the northern slope of Mt. Etna. They arranged to have Santo Scuderi from Servizio Taxi take us there and we received a wonderful welcome from the owner and his staff.

We sat down at a long table and were served a delicious lunch including desert, coffee, water, and 4 bottles of wine. All was very delicious and reasonably priced. After lunch we had the pleasure of a vineyard and winery tour that we really enjoyed. This is a must do if you are in Taormina or vicinity.

We learned about the soil on Mt Etna and how it contributes to the wonderful taste of Gambino wines at this high elevation. Our visit lasted several hours and we were very impressed with the wines, food, and hospitality. We would definitely come back here and we give our highest recommendation.

I also want to acknowledge Santo, our driver from Fiumefreddo Sic. Santo is a warm hearted, wonderful person that drove us to several locations as we toured Mt. Etna, and surrounding towns in an air conditioned Mercedes Benz. His cell number 328 9424819 - highly recommended!

“Highlight of our trip!!!”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

On a 5 day trip to Sicily with another couple from NYC, we visited Gambino as part of a private wine tour which we booked through the following: http://www.winetourinsicily.com/one/taormina.htm website. We visited 3 vineyards and while each had its charm, Gambino left the most lasting impression. We had a very comprehensive tour and explanation in English about the wine production process. Then we were seated on the beautiful deck overlooking the vineyard and mountains and treated to an incredible local food spread while indulging in several delicious wines. The staff was SO attentive and generous. We met the lovely owner and his son who made a point to come to our table and check in on our experience. Though we still have a few days left in Sicily, not sure how we could top our day at Gambino. We all agreed this place deserves a glowing recommendation and assure you will not be disappointed in coming here.
