“Very good family room just outside Paris”
Reviewed July 28, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at the Cerise for 4 days in a family room. Spacious large room with two separate room with one sleeping sofa and one double bed. The room was clean but with a noisy AC that we tried to keep at 18 degrees but not sure it worked. The staff was always smiling and very service minded and the breakfast was traditional French. We had dinner in the China restaurant just across the street, a buffet that the kids loved! Every day during our stay there were language classes (EF) visiting Paris and used the hotel as their base, but no noise or any problems with them. A hotel that is perfect if you like to stay outside Paris and would like to visit all sights in Saint-Germain en Laye, Versailles or Maisons Lafitte.

The hotel is very conviniently located in the centre of the town near by train station (4 min on foot) where you can take the RER and be in Paris Centre in 15/20 min.
The staff is friendly and accomodating. The hotel is still being refurbished and the corridors are freshly painted. You get use of a small kitchenette and a tv. The room is kept well clean and you get a set of fresh towels everyday.
Tere is nothing you could ask more for approx 60 punds a day and a short distance from the centre of Paris . We came by car so it was convenient for us to be here and save on parking.

Stayed 2 nights here but couldn't wait to leave, the rooms were ok but the service was awful.
Clearly they don't like British guest here and this was made obvious.
Breakfast was poor you had to ask for food as early on in the breakfast schedule it ran out, so asking caused offence and annoyance to the staff.
No tea or coffee facilities in the room as advertised.

Large room, excellent bed, only French and German language television channels (no CNN/BBC). Very pleasant village, with good restaurants. Hotel is quiet. Excellent parking. Safe.

RER Station is 10 min walking distance, and gives easy access to Paris (ca 20 min to Etoile, several minutes more to Chatelet). Train to Gare St Lazare.

Staff very friendly, fluent in English

After reading the reviews I wasn't looking forward to my stay, but it proved to be an excellent hotel and very good value for money. No complaints apart from a slightly limited breakfast offering. Would recommend for any casual or business traveller looking for a reasonable hotel at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back, not overlooking the road as it can be noisy.

The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Maisson Laffitte train station, & the A line train takes about 15-20 mins at the most to get into central Paris. We checked in around midnight on our first night & Robert the man at the front desk was very friendly & helpful, as he was on our 2nd evening. It was our anniversary & they had written us a nice little note in our room & whenever we went to the desk they wished us a happy anniversary which was sweet.

Our room was very spacious with a proper kitchenette area, we didn't use it but would be handy if staying longer. The bathroom & toilet were separate, the bathroom also very spacious. Plenty of hanging space for clothes & a flat screen tv.

We had a small balcony but when we stepped out on to it there were lots of spiders so we didn't open the door again!

Breakfast is a small buffett with pastries, toast, yoghurts, fruit, cold hams etc. It was all a bit stale to be honest, but as it was included in the price which isn't very common nowadays we didn't complain, just nibbled at some bits. We noticed quite a lot of bugs in the breakfast room too.

Apparently there's a sauna in the hotel but it wasn't working when we were there.

The hotel staff were very helpful in calling us taxi's & booking us a table in a restaurant in Paris. There did seem to only ever be one member of staff there at one time though so we had to go into the kitchen to try find them sometimes.

On our second evening we found a very large spider in our room. We hate spiders! It took us ages to kill it so this definitely meant that we didn't get as good a night sleep as we needed!

Overall this hotel is fine for a short stay, no luxuries but cheap & very close to Paris, much cheaper than a central hotel & you buy a day / 2 day / 3 day metro pass which includes metro, train & buses & then you can travel around to your wish so getting the train to Maisson Lafitte is not a problem. The walk to the hotel is not far, will take 5-10 mins depending on how fast you walk.

We struggled to find out what time the last train to Maisson Laffitte was though & thought we'd missed the last one at 12 but they did run til about 1am, depending where you caught it in Paris. Trains from Paris to the hotel are on the A line & run toward Cergy/Poisson.

Room Tip: We asked for a good room as it was our anniversary, Robert on the desk said we'd been given the...
