We stayed here for five nights, whilst doing an Historic Rally and Tour Auto in the Picos de Europa. A combination of Grand Home and modern comfortable bedrooms. The original building has fine wood and plaster features and is beautiful. The staff are friendy, the grounds and pool are well cared for. Breakfast was good, but this is a very Spanish resort and the food reflects this. We only dined here once, the first night due to our late arrival. Adjacent to Reception is a water feature, full of lobsters, crayfish, awaiting death by scalding, not to everyone's taste. A easy walk to the Town centre with a number of bars, restaurants, and more lively etc. Behind the Hotel is one of the best freshly made and cooked Pizza places, you will find anywhere. The Menu is still displayed on a A4 sheet, tacky for an International Hotel at these ;prices.

One night of my travels here in Ribadesella at the Gran Hotel del Sella. I saw this hotel on my last trip to the area a few years ago & decided to stay here this time. Stately entrance & reception, very "parador" & grand. Allocated room on the 4th floor overlooking the front of the hotel, the mountains & the town. Lovely view despite the rain & clouds !!! Room was spacious, old fashioned and what you would expect. Bathroom was fine, large tub, lots of Spanish marble effect, roomy & clean. Nice balcony to sit on & admire the views.

There was also a large pool & lots of loungers but no sun this time. The general seating areas on the first floor were lovely, big soft chairs & sofas with lots of stuffed birds & animals & nice paintings. The breakfast was very homely, eggs on request ( great scrambled eggs with serrano) and fab Spanish egg tortilla. Nice homemade baked cakes & biscuits. Pretty decent breakfast & included in 122 euro rate.

Only downside to the hotel would be the lack of a/c, there was none visible & no fan in the room. You could leave your window open and the blinds down for some extra ventilation but in high summer this might be a problem. There was a small amount of seagull noise but nothing terribly loud. It is a short walk over the bridge into town for your evening meal at one of the few restaurants near the church all good value. Remember, remember to book your ticket to the caves before you go on your trip as when I was there in late June there was no availability for 4 days !!! & it was not peak season...the caves are about 5 minutes from the hotel on foot......Enjoy the grandeur of the Gran.

A good position in Ribadsella, excellent for the beach, eaqsy walk into town for good bars/restaurants, other activities near by so a good base.Eat in town, anyone who types their menu on a plain piece of paper & sticks it on the wall isn't going to be proud of their food!

Conveniently located, very reasonable, fantastic breakfast, incredible situation on the beachfront, beautiful pool, friendly staff and good parking.

The weather was not too hot so we did not mind there being no air conditioner.

The Spar was not open while we were there so I cannot comment on it.

Room Tip: Perhaps ask for a sea facing room but perhaps this is more expensive. We were happy to face the riv...

This is a traditional family run hotel which we found to be very comfortable. All the rooms have great views, either of the seafront or the Sella estuary and mountain range. The staff spoke good English and were very helpful. They even opened the restaurant at 6.15am on our day of departure so that we could have breakfast before leaving. There's a lovely sea water swimming pool with plenty of sunbeds and courtesy towels. All in all a very comfortable hotel in which to stay in this lovely seaside town where we also found plenty of good restaurants.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the 2nd floor or above for the best views.
