Not the most spectacular caves I have ever seen, but the cave paintings take your breath away!
We joined a group comprising mainly Spanish people and as we speak very little Spanish we were struggling to understand what the Guide was saying. Bless her, when she realised we were English she was at great pains to make us understand. The staff at the entrance were very sweet, too.. Very interesting museum. We loved our visit.

Very well done. Great tour. In Spanish. Well organized, very informative. Both the kids (ages 8-12) and adults loved it! Must reserve tickets ahead of time in the summer

visited the visitors centre/caves at tito bustillo and really enjoyed it.
i didn't go into the caves (claustrophobic) but my partner said it was amazing.
we both looked around the visitors centre, before the cave visit, and its been really well done.
the fee is reasonable and includes admission to the visitors centre.
unfortunately the guided tour of the caves is only in spanish - no english transalation at all (which is a shame). my partner enjoyed seeing the paintings - because they are so old - but would have liked to have some information about them in english during the tour, about 45 mins.
a highly recommended trip though.

What an amazing experience! Well worth doing as is the kayak trip on the river the other caves and just walking around Ribadesella. We were staying in Gijon but came twice as it is an easy day trip.

WARNING!! The caves have limited admission each day so if you have not booked you probably won't get into the main caves just the other caves (which are worth seeing too). We went one day and did the smaller caves and the river and then came back for the larger caves and to enjoy the town another day. (We booked the larger cave visit while we were there the first time).

Not for people with physical handicaps unfortunately. You are walking in the dark for a moderate distance and the smaller caves you need to get up a steep and long flight of stairs. For able bodied people it is easy and well worth it to see art created thousands of years ago:)

Tours are in Spanish but even if you don't speak Spanish you will be able to enjoy the experience.
