“Shoulder to shoulder with the locals ........”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

Not the easiest place to find if you're going by foot but worth the the effort, this small bar attracts a wide range of locals and tourists and once you've managed to find a menu in English (or better still you understand the Spanish menu), ordering is a matter of catching the eye of one of the troop of enthusiastic staff behind the bar and making yourself heard over the background din which can be pretty loud at times.
A wide range of freshly prepared tapas, it is a non-stop frantic place that it is worth experiencing but don't go there expecting a "nice sit-down meal".

“Three Gs”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

Great Wine, Great food, Great atmosphere. The excellent wines are cheap. A great Roija for 9Euro. The various smoked meats and Tapas dishes are really interesting and tasty. The service is wonderful. At one point the chef came to speak to us to apologise as the little skewers he'd just cooked had fallen on the floor and therefore he needed to cook new ones and would be five minutes more. We'd only ordered them 10 minutes earlier. Seldom see that sort of honesty.. he could have just put them back on the grill for 30 seconds and served them up.

The service was quick and excellent, the ambience was lively and friendly with mixed nationalities. This place really deserves it's high ratings.

“Be here in time”
Reviewed October 11, 2013 via mobile

You Better be here by the opening time 8.00 pm. We visited this very nice tapasbar and we was here at opening. 1 jour later the place was full of people. Very good selection of tapas variadas and many good vines from Rioja and Ribera del Duero. La Chimenea must be the best tapas bar in La Linea. Ohly thing that I miss in the place was a glass of Cava.

“What an experience”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

A very small bar with stools and benches and possibly the best dinner we had on this trip. With no experience of tapas we were initially confused but followed others. Menu in English but staff didn’t speak any. The boss who has some English arrived a little later and made some recommendations. The food was brilliant, a range of tastes and textures. Possibly the best steak we’ve had in recent times. A pity it was a tapas size. We had two bottles of a Rjioca at 9 euros each that were sumptuous. A lovely experience.

“Get there early.”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

Lovely tapas. The tapas bar is quite small, so you could be waiting to sit down. You may not want to linger after the meal though as the wooden seats are not padded. Great atmosphere. House wine was delicious. The staff did not speak any English on the night we went there so a bit of Spanish is a big help in getting what you want.
