Ohtels Campo de Gibraltar

I have just re-visited the hotel photos for this establishment and it feels like I am looking at a different hotel. The photos are certainly very flattering.

The staff are ok (although I had to wait for 5 minutes for the receptionist to finish her private conversation for me to be seen) but the buffet food is as bland as bland can be. The hotel is clean though, and the location very good for a short business trip to Gibraltar. In life you get what you pay for and if you want just somewhere to rest your head for a night, this is ok.

I booked this hotel having read mixed reviews, as this was the closest to Gibraltar and it was just for 1 night.
Checkin/checkout was smooth as we hardly waited more than couple of mins. Room was simple but sufficient and we had a nice view. The basement car parking felt a much safer option although being Sat afternoon/Sunday meant free outside street parking.
Now to the downside - the biggest minus was breakfast - there was too much of everything but nothing tasted good. All I was planning to have was a continental - some toasts and cereals. But even that was like the worst I have ever had. And you need to queue to toast the bread like for 15mins!
In the room itself, I had water filled in the bath gel! very annoying and it was not even replaced. AC was not working. Mini-bar is nothing more than an empty fridge.
I am not sure how it got the 4* rating.
If I have to be in Gibraltar again, I may still book this place just because of the location. But sure will make sure to pack of what I am sure will be missing.

After many days on the road.... partners idea of a holiday!! The end of the road trip brought us too this hotel, tired ,exhausted and hire car handed back, we were now reliant on our feet... partner telliung me " only YARDS" from the airport...... NO, its a good 15mns walk.. and not the lovliest of places to view, the hotel exterior on the main road is very off putting, quite scruffy, the "Entrance" is down a side street.
Reception big and bright, receptionist? well 10mns later she appeared....
Our room, the 6th floor, corridors that remind one of the movie "The Shining", long and dark and empty..
The room, fairly nice the bathroom very clean and tastefully decorated.. lovely comfy bed, balcony with a view of the marina and the busy road....
Air con, unable to start it, six floors down, reception, promised technician, and within 5mns he was there, fiddled with dials, and explained " not good, not working".
Six floors down, reception.. "off all over"...Well, luckily it was only May... and only one night!!
Drinks round the, deceptively, very small pool... the photos certainly fooled us....
Walked into Gibraltar, the least said about that experience the better!! All I will say is if you like that sort of thing you will love it... if not, there are better places to be on a final night in Spain.....
Later in the evening, sat on the balcony watching the lights of Spain, listening too, what sounded like a Bon Jovi concert in the distance.... Spanish families wandering about below us, cars up and down the road... boats in the marina bobbing up and down in the water.... a pleasant evening.
Breakfast, more than enough, a truly international fare, from danish pastries, french croissants, cold meats, cheeses, UK trad fry up.... toast... we were stuffed....one thing to avoid, if you truly fancy orange juice, dont be fooled.. the orange liquid.. really disapointed.....
Overall a good final night, a bit characterless, very international, nothing traditionally Spanish about it, dont be put off by the exterior.... but a comfy bed and a spotlessly clean bathroom.. really its all you need....

Room Tip: fairly handy for Gibraltar airport, but a bit of a treck if its a very very hot day....

This is the second time I have stayed here the previous time was a year ago. Since the last visit the hotels facilities and general standard has declined. The rooms now do NOT offer tea/coffee making facilities and the mini bar has been withdrawn. The Air con only is switched on in day time and off at 2300. The breakfast buffet is generally fair but the supply of fresh fruit is non existant except for a melon and the orange juice is only and orange cordial. We stayed for a week and sampled dinner once which had a good choice but all rather cold and poorly cooked.

A big plus is that it is only 20 minutes walk from Gibraltar Airport including crossing border and on the level

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view for extra 10 euros and see the Rock of Gibraltar

This was an relatively inexpensive place to stay for a night. The front door actually around a corner, so beware as many maps show it as being right on a main road; it is but that's the back of the building. There were relatively few guests when I was there, which made the entire hotel rather drab. The room was good, full sized bathroom with plenty of towels, the double bed was actually two singles pushed together but was decently comfortable. I had a balcony that opened up to face Gibraltar which was also quite nice.

The dinner buffet was average at best. With so few guests the food stayed under the heat lamps for longer than optimal, so the fish and chips were dry and the pasta over done. The breakfast buffet was a bit better as that was free for all guests so more people seemed to take advantage of it.

We stayed at this hotel for one night as we had accommodation further along the coast and wanted to have a few drinks in Gibraltar. The hotel itself is not in Gibraltar, but only 500m from the border. The hotels in Gibraltar looked tacky and overpriced and with our room costing €65 for a room with a view and breakfast we could hardly complain. We walked through the main door and waited approximately 15 minutes at reception before we were asked to come forward. The queue behind us was quite large, but there only seemed to be one receptionist and he spent most of the time in the back office. The room itself was good, a fair size, nice bathroom and a view of the rock, albeit with an orange hotel partially blocking it. We had a buffet dinner in the restaurant and the food was exactly what you'd expect if you're paying €10pp. The noise outside the hotel was considerable, but quietened down from 2300. Breakfast was very good. Overall, if you want a cheap place to stay close to the border then this place is fine. Parking outside the hotel was €5 for 24 hours!

Hotel was clean. Breakfast not too good. A good place to stay for visiting Gib. Could walk across the border from there. La Linea was very good for Tapas. We bought our cable car tickets from ther because we were told they were cheaper. In fact, we could buy them from just inside the border with a proper trip for the same price.

Room Tip: Have a room with a sea view
