I love AC hotels: I´m never disappointed at the quality & value for money. But I´m probably one of the few people who will post a review about the AC La Línea de la Concepción who actually likes La Línea. But I do.
Much is made about the hotel being in a rough area of town and that the town itself is a bit grotty. Yes, it´s near the edge of town, but it´s a 15-minute walk into the centre, and another 15 to the border. La Línea is a diamond in the rough: great bars, kind people and an economically battered town that sits in the shadow of Gib.
The hotel was great: lovely staff, clean rooms, a wonderfully comfortable bed, and a great bathroom (loved the shower). The breakfast was buffet-style and fine (I imagine those who want eggs and bacon would have been disappointed), and I was rather hoping that there would be cava, but such was not the case ;)
My only complaint is that I wish they had had free wifi in the rooms. It was available (for free) downstairs (lounge, breakfast area & poolside), but sometimes it´s nice to have a skype call in private.
Otherwise, for 55€ a night (with breakfast), this was a steal - especially when you consider what the cheapest digs in Gib go for. Would definitely stay again :)More
