Do not be fooled, what you are eating will have been touched by the majority of the visitors, the first time we came here I had to advise a staff member that a member of the public was picking all the salad from the bowls out with her hands, and putting it back... Unfortunately this place is let down by a large part of the customers that choose this place.. and also the fact that most of the staff are under 17 and have been chucked into a job role they don't understand. Shame... it could be something great... also, the pricing is a bit O.T.T..... Choose this as a last choice destination for food...

I highly recommend this restaurant, part of Stephen Smith's garden centre. We eat there regularly and have never had a poor meal. The prices are good for the standard of food served - we have paid more than double for similar quality in other restaurants. This is primarily self-service, although food cooked to order is brought to your table by polite staff.

Large cafe area within a garden centre.
Food at prices you may expect in a restaurant but without the service. Looks more like a motorway service station.
Enter the food area, pick up a tray and select food as you move along.
Pick a meal which is served by staff and help yourself to potatoes and vegetables.

This is where it all starts to go wrong.

Wait to be served with Tea or Coffee then wait again to pay at the checkout.
Then carry your tray to find a table and don't forget to collect cutlery and condements en route
All this time the food is going cold on the plate.
The quality of the food is only fair but would be good if a way could be found to get to the table while it is still hot.

We found the food pretty average and really far too expensive for what it was - a resonably light lunch for 2 adults and 1 child was a chunk over £20, which for a restaurant in a garden centre is pretty steep! Very little atmosphere and food was the usual garden centre cafe fare of jacket spuds/2 hot meals/roast dinner/toasted sandwiches/etc (bacon butty with a bit of limp salad knocking on for a fiver though!). Coffee perfectly OK but again, it seemed pricey. I would suggest trying to make sure you're not so hungry that you're tempted to eat here, as it's just very ordinary and there are other really good places to eat in Otley.
