Mrs Capricorn and I decided to try a venue which was new to us in Otley and opted for the Horse and Farrier.
It was the best decision we've made for some time.
The hotel is spacious on the ground floor and has a 40-person function room on the first floor. It is spotlessly clean and bright. The welcome was warm (being Bantams fans was a bonus) and the service impeccable. There is a wide and well chosen range of drinks of all kinds; it is a pity that the Malbec cannot be bought by the glass and that among the trappist ales on offer La Trappe is not available, but these are minor matters and by no means had an adverse effect on our enjoyment of the evening.
The food menu is diverse and the quality of the dishes provided therefrom nothing short of outstanding. Even such comfort food as a fish finger butty, mundane as it might sound, far exceeded expectations: it was homemade, served piping hot in a granary bap with a generous side-salad and tasted delicious.
Value for money was certainly provided to our satisfaction. Overall, the experience was one we look forward to repeating on a regular basis.
When in Otley, be sure to drop in and experience truly top quality food, ambience and service.
