We had paid for an Executive room and I'm afraid were deeply disappointed. There was no CD Player, DVD player docking station as advertised. There were no robes and slippers as advertised. The room was underneath the office and staff tramped up and down the stairs every five minutes and then proceeded to clomp across the office floor above. I wonder if the Management are aware of the amount of noise which is experienced in this room. We did express our concerns to the reception staff but were told that the Senior Receptionist had finished for the day (at 3pm) and we could speak to her about it the following day. As we were only staying for a couple of nights this seemed pointless..... we were also told that the CD player had probably been removed from our room to be used elsewhere!! We never got a replacement and we finally had to ask for robes and slipper on our last day when we visited the spa - again we were asked if we were ENTITLED TO THEM!! The reception staff did not seem to know that we had booked an EXECUTIVE ROOM!!! a term I would use loosely and would agree that this hotel needs updating. Sorry lovely staff but very, very disorganised.

Room Tip: Be warned - refuse room 2 if you are given it - (supposedly an executive room) be prepared for the staff to be clomping up and down the staircase - the underside of which is in your room - and for a very noisy creaking ceiling when they tramp across the office above - every 5 minutes from 8am to 10.30 pm.

Thank you for your review. It seems we did not get this right for you on this occasion and I will look into your concerns. I am sorry you were disturbed we do have offices above and we were aware of this situation during your stay and have now moved as a result of your comments. The CD player docking station was indeed not present in your room this had been removed to facilitate repairs, I am sorry it was not available when you stayed with us. I have passed on your comments to the rest of the staff.

My wife and I stayed here for one night on our wedding anniversary. We had stayed here before a couple of years ago so had a good idea what to expect and our expectations were met and then some! Check in was swift, friendly and professional and we made our way to our room (70) there was still the remnants of winter on the ground and the hotel grounds really do look idyllic in the snow.

The room itself was a good size, clean and the bathroom was decent. The in-wall heating kept the room lovely and warm.

We had the six course taster menu in the restaurant for dinner, the presentation of the dishes was every bit as good as we remembered, my wife's cod was exceptional, and my venison loin was unbelievable! (well worth the upgrade)

A special mention must go for the kitchen team as they made my pregnant wife a Caesar salad as she wasn't able to eat any starters that were on the menu that night.

Service was friendly and professional, The staff seemed to really take pride in their work.

After a very good nights sleep we went down for breakfast and again really enjoyed it. Everything was cooked to order and again service was friendly and efficient

A big thank you to Sam, Emma, Tracy, becky and everyone else we met at the Chevin (too many names to remember) you made our anniversary very special, see you next year.

My wife surprised me for my birthday with a two night trip (away from the kids, what a bonus), and couldn’t have chosen a better place to do it. As the other reviews start with an open fire, mine will be no different. The reception was very clean, the lady behind the desk was very helpful and informative and yes the roaring fire is a beautiful feature. We were given a free upgrade because it was a special occasion and our bags were also taken to our room for us because we wanted a coffee after our journey. The bar staff / waiters were excellent and nothing was too much trouble.

As we got to our lodge we had our own parking space and as promised our bags were on our beds waiting for us. The room was very clean and tidy, the bed was warm and comfortable and the shower was hot and wet I suppose. What more can you ask for?

That evening we had our dinner in the restaurant, the food was great and the staff were as informative as the lady on reception. We were very impressed when the general manager came over to our table and asked us if we found our bags ok and gave us some advice on ordering a bottle of Pinot Grigio. We mentioned that a light bulb had blown as we turned the switch on and to our surprise when we got back to our room the bulb had been changed.

The next day we took a trip into Otley which is a lovely market town for a browse and a coffee. We toyed with eating out or going back to the hotel. We choose the hotel again as the food and service really stood out the night before and we wanted the same experience. I was very impressed to find a birthday message waiting for me from the management team with a bottle of Pinot Grigio that we had the night before.

The hotel does need some money spending on it, a lick of paint perhaps, a larger bar maybe and the spa does need some major work and by the looks of it that could be pricey. But all in all the management have an eye for detail and made our time very memorable.

YES we will be coming again for a long weekend with the kids or even with the extended family. What are the other reviewers moaning about (except the spa)?

THANKYOU so much to the staff you are a credit to Crerar hotels (we may even travel to Scotland, to give the other hotels a go).

My husband and I stayed at Chevin lodges following a birthday celebration. Our night stay was £70 bed and breakfast.
The room although large was very outdated and the bathroom was pretty bad. The bathroom suite was very old, there were damp patches on the walls and the ancient shower required a lot of messing around to come out warm.
It had snowed the day before our arrival, none of the paths connecting the room chalets to the main hotel had been gritted making it frankly dangerous to walk on them.
On the upside the breakfast facilities were fantastic great choice of hot and cold food and not a buffet style, we also found the bar prices reasonable for a hotel.
Would we stay again? Not even for £70.

Thank you for your review, it is magical when it snows at Chevin and the time you stayed with us was no exception. We battled hard to keep the paths clear but the conditions just overwhelmed us and after it stopped snowing we were faced with six foot snow drifts in parts of the grounds.I am glad you managed to reach the hotel safely. I have passed on your comments to the food and beverage team regarding your breakfast with us.
Kind Regards
The Management and Staff.

booked to stay here on a spa break with friends for a special occasion. The pool was filthy and outdated, the water was cold, the tiles filthy. the jacuzzi outdated as was the rest of the spa area, jacuzzi frothed up and made your eyes hurt... too much chlorene.. the outdoor jacuzzi was freezing and not useable, there was nowhere to sit and read a magazine,a couple of chairs but there were in use.. no drinks, food or magazines to read, no free lockers to put your belongings, scruffy staff and rude ,no proper relaxation room, you couldnt call this a spa hotel.. when ordering a sandwich in the bar was told there was a wedding on and this would take priority so there might be some wait, who would want to get married here must want their heads reading, decor 80's style looks old and worn, rooms also old fashioned, shower cold, rang reception waited an hour noone came, service in restaurant slow and staff rude, total rip off for the price we paid and not even the decency to reply to a letter of complaint.only good point was an excellend masseuse who is wasted here and evening meal fairly nice when it eventually came.
