Just returned from a two night stay at the Hopper Lane Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. The meals were wonderful, with locally sourced produce, accompanied by reasonably priced bottles of wine that were stored overnight for us by the staff so we could savour them with our evening meals on both nights. The full breakfasts were superb, with locally made bread dipped into perfectly poached eggs.
The managers and staff were all excellent and helpful, enjoying talking to customers as much as we enjoyed talking to them. This greatly adds to the lovely atmosphere of this accessible roadside tavern (with real ale and ambience).
The hotel has a large car park, fields at the rear and is located in the delightful Washburn Valley, with lovely local walks around the reservoirs and easy access to the Yorkshire Dales, Skipton, Otley/Ilkey and the A1/M1.
We recommend you try this hotel and don't forget to look for the cunningly made circular table in the restaurant, with a glass centre that allows you to look down into the water well below.

Room Tip: There is a choice of bedrooms to the front or rear of the hotel. Our Bedroom 3 (facing the front and...

We booked last minute with late rooms and got a fantastic deal, we received a warm welcome by Martin i think his name is and once we were settled in we had a drink in the beautiful bar with its oak beams and stone floor, really lovely place. The hotel is situated minutes away from the reservoir and is a perfect place for a stop over. The room was small with a low bed (which didn't bother us) but has everything you may need and a lovely little bathroom with a great shower! We couldn't it believe in the morning when we realized breakfast was included, with a lovely espresso machine coffee and the breakfast was lovely, a little of everything I would have wished for and good quality bacon and sausage. Really enjoyed our stay and will be sure to revisit when we are over that way again Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had a good value deal but the room just wasn’t very good. The bed was terrible. The mattress was only 3 inches thick and you could see clearly the imprint of the people that had slept there before making it even flatter. Our window was 3 meters from the A59 and the windows did very little to hide the noise of lorry’s. It was very warm in the room and of course opening a window was out of the question. It was a very small room too and the walls must have been paper thin as we could hear everything from the adjoining rooms. Breakfast was nice but I did miss baked beans with my full English. The manager was very friendly as were all the staff.

I definitely would not return!

Room Tip: Make sure you aren't on the ground or buy the road!

We stopped here after the first stage of the 6 dales trail. A truly yorkshire welcome awaited us and top quality food. Rooms small but perfectly formed. The flower wrapped towels/toiletries were a lovely touch. If sleeping on the road side take ear plugs as traffic starts at 5 am even at weekends. Hayley was lovely and the oreo cheesecake was out of this world. Great breakfast. Very good value for money.

Stayed here on a Groupon deal. Excellent value. A nice big pub / restaurant with en-suite rooms. The property does face onto the main road. There's plenty of parking, and we had a nice welcome from Joe, no frills, just plain Yorkshire friendly! We had room 1 at the front, which faced the road, but the traffic wasn't too bothersome. We had twin beds and an en-suite shower room, which was small but perfectly adequate. Nice shower, rather a big tap for the small basin! Plenty of tea and coffee and a large kettle. The room was made up after the first night, which was nice, more biscuits! We ate in the restaurant the first night, the food was very nice, I had braised beef with horseradish mash, and my husband had the Hopper Whale, which was a big fish! Full English Breakfast in the morning was good the first morning, not so good the second morning, different cook maybe? There's no menu for breakfast, they ask if you want full english and that's what you get. However, anything you want different or want adding or taking away, just ask. Nothing's too much trouble. I heard a guest at breakfast asking for a sandwich to take out for her lunch as she was going out for the day. I didnt know they did that, but she was told she could have any sandwich she wanted!!! Overall I enjoyed my stay there, and would definately go back. There's a nice relaxed atmosphere, and Joe is a really nice guy. My only real gripe was the emergency lighting in the bedroom which glowed very bright green all night and I found that a bit disturbing. Tried to wedge a cushion over the door to block a bit of it out, but it's a bit extreme!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front face the road. However it's not noisy. Take a sleep mask for your eyes!

Booked 1 night B&B with late rooms,05/06 June 2012.As a solo traveller, single rooms with single beds or supplements are sometimes my only options. So a double room at such a low price seemed slightly hard to believe,so went with an open mind. What a pleasant surprise I got, lovely building, location and free ample parking. The bar area was a delight with open beams, stone floor and low ceilings, very olde worldy!.The room was very clean, rather spacious and the bed was very comfy, tho rather low!Full English breakfast was well tasty with plenty tea to finish off with.Really enjoyed my stay and would recommend to others.
