We recently took a trip to celebrate a friend’s 60th birthday at Rose Hall Villas at Half Moon Bay with 3 other couples. My friend’s wife, Lisa Hall of Thornton Hall travel had visited Half Moon Bay the month before with her daughters and wanted us to join them at this wonderful resort.
The villa was seaside with a pool and an absolutely fabulous staff of Carmen (chef), Delton (Butler) and Olive (a little bit of everything). We had several days of pampered service, elaborate meals with true Jamaican flair and relaxation. We went horseback riding and swimming (with horses in the ocean) with the wonderful staff from the stables, played golf on a beautiful course largely to ourselves, while our wives enjoyed the spa.
Beautiful setting, attentive staff, great amenities and only 10 minutes from Montego Bay Airport.
I highly recommend asking for the team of Carmen, Delton, and Olive.

We enjoyed our time at Rose Hall Villa immensely staying in a 7 bedroom 7 bath Villa. The staff is outstanding, patient if you are new to this and accommodating in every way. Our butler Devon handled any situation that arose. Ms Melonie fed us delicious meals, providing us with authentic Jamaican cooking alongside our own requests. Lucille kept our clothes cleaned and rooms clean as a whistle. The staff are 5 stars!
The Villas need updating in the common areas, however. The kitchen is ill equipped and sadly outdated for self-catering large groups, however, Ms Melonie worked magic in that space. A proper kitchen would allow our excellent cook to do her best work and feel more welcoming to guests who are staying there. After all, this is your home away from home for your stay. The kitchen is not properly ventilated with fans or air conditioning. I sincerely hope that this is an improvement in the future as it impacted our groups feeling about this vacation experience. The cook sleeps in a room adjacent to the kitchen, that is also not air conditioned and is basically a laundry room with a washer, dryer and linens. I wish we had known this going into the vacation. It is difficult to retire to your comfortable king size air-conditioned bedroom knowing that your cook who you have now formed a bond with is sleeping in a sweltering laundry closet.
We hope to return to the resort, but will be looking for improvements in the Villas before booking again.

Nice hotel ! Beautiful location.
We stayed in the hotel, not a villa. The hotel needs a update, but the worst thing is the service.
We asked a table in the restaurant , they need to clean the table first.
It takes more than half an hour to do this. If we ask to hurry up, they were laughing with us.
It was like that in the evening and during breakfast. The service in the restaurant is the worst!
There is no management in the hotel.
If you complain about this, they apologies, but they do nothing. My worst experience with a 5 star hotel ever. It is the first time that I write something on tripadvisor.
Greetings from Belgium

We traveled with 4 kids ranging in age from 19 to 10, so staying in a 5 bedroom villa (each with its own bathroom) allowed everyone ample space and privacy when needed. We had 2 golf carts, one with 4 seats and the other with 6 seats, making the easy 10 minute drive to the main resort fun in it's own right. The setting and house were absolutely beautiful. Having our own private pool was great for quiet afternoons poolside. The accommodations were impeccable and this resort is very sheltered, secure and well guarded, which as a parent was very important to me. Safety was never a concern.

What really made this vacation extraordinary however, were the 3 exceptional staff members who worked at our villa, seamlessly making each day effortless for us. Our butler, Edward, set a tone so gracious and generous that we all miss him still. We ate most every meal at our villa, prepared by our wonderful cook, Taneisha, who produced so many beautiful meals I'd like to reproduce all of them at home. She was a joy to talk to every day, planning the daily menu and making great suggestions. Without fail, she made every meal special. Our rooms and entire villa were always immaculate thanks to Nordene who made beds, cleaned, did our laundry and turned down the beds each night without impacting or inconveniencing anyone, ever. Edward, Taneisha and Nordene were delightful and kind, while working extremely long hours in a physically demanding industry. They made magic for us.

We ate dinner out at the resort twice and had the breakfast buffet once. All of these meals were wonderful (the buffet is quite pricey). The Sugar Mill restaurant was incredible. If you can, make dinner there a priority.

Traveling in the summer made villa rates very reasonable compared to high end all-inclusives. We considered going to Beaches on Turks and Caicos, where I've been several times, but with a group of 6 the trip would have been more than double the cost of this trip with none of the personal touches, space for everyone and privacy. This, and the resort was quiet as summer is always less crowded in the Caribbean and prices are more affordable.

Half Moon and the Rose Hall Villa experience exceeded all of my expectations and we will return again and again.

Room tip: We stayed in villa, #87 that looked out on the ocean and was beautiful. I would love to stay in #86 that is ocean front.

My wife and I traveled on a business trip to Half Moon Resort. We stayed at Villa 56. I highly recommend this Villa as each Villa comes with your own Butler and Housekeeper, Yes, your own. They were Patricia and Nigel. If you ever go here, ensure you stay at this specific Villa number, you will not be disappointed

Room tip: Book Villa 56
