Royal Villas at Half Moon
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed May 28, 2013

This was our second stay at the Royal Villas. We stayed in Villa 85 right on the sea and there were 12 of us in the 6 bedroom villa. Derrick, the butler, Beverly, the cook and Agnes, the maid, took exceptional good care of us. Derrick is the hardest working, most personable member of staff, as far as we are concerned. Every meal was set out artistically and from a different dining area outside for a new experience each time. Eating at the villa from food prepared in native styles is always better than dining in the costly restaurants. Endless fresh fruit including papaya, pineapple, mangoes, melons and banana are always great. The "magic laundry basket" that has your clothes clean and fresh for you by evening is great. The house was absolutely spotless and beautiful in a wonderful seaside setting. All staff on property greet you every time they see you. The golf carts are great for getting back and forth. My only comment would be that it would be great if they provided bicycles as an amenity as well, since you are paying considerably for the luxury villa. By the way, Prince Harry stayed in Villa 85!

My husband, son(20) and I stayed at Half Moon in June. What an amazing resort. The accommodation was luxurious leading straight out onto the beautiful turquoise ocean. The breakfasts were delicious with an abundant choice. Half Moon is a truly beautiful resort - paradise all round.

Room Tip: All are spectacular

We just stayed in Royal Villa 56---incredible! Perfect for families, large groups. There were 6 adults and 2 children. With 6 full bedrooms/baths...there is room for everyone! Our own private pool allowed the kids to swim all day and with numerous pools at the resort ( a 5 minute drive in your personal golf cart) you can explore all day. Service staff was impeccable...Delton our butler was fantastic, arranging reservations or excursions, and greeting us each morning with a wonderful breakfast. Lezetia our fantastic chef who can cook anything, prepared breakfast each morning and dinner three times. She was very accommodating for some family that have special dietary needs. We celebrated a birthday there and she made the most wonderful cake! Finally, Patricia cleaned our rooms daily, turned down beds in the evening and even did our laundry!?! Each room has a devoted air conditioner so you can escape the heat and take an afternoon nap if you wish or catch up on the news, sports, etc.

The resort is full of history with many famous people staying there over the last 50 years. The main hotel is full of great pictures. We swam with the dolphins, played golf and went to the very luxurious Fern Tree Spa. Unfortunately due to hurricane Isacc, the seas were much too rough for diving and fishing, however, we did swim in the bay 3 times. The spa was an incredible experience with staff that is very knowledgeable. I highly recommend getting a massage or facial treatment there. There are private pools and relaxation areas, its easy to spend hours there after your treatment.

Going in August/September is much different than November-February according to everyone we spoke with. We went during the hurricane season...eventhough it only rained one day. The benefit of this is that there were hardly any patrons at the resort, which meant we had the place to ourselves. We saw 5 other families daily at the pool and dinner, but that was it. If you enjoy being around lots of people then go during the high season, if not, Aug and Sept. are the best times to go. The downside was that not all restaurants are open, shops open and close at odd times and generally, organizing a trip or excursion can be a bit more difficult.

The only negative thing I would say about our stay was the watersports department. They were very disorganized and hard to contact via phone or in person. I understand this is the slow time and the water conditions were not very good due to the passing tropical storm, however, if we had been contacted earlier in the week of our stay, we would have been able to schedule a dive trip. Other than that....a wonderful experience and one that we will remember forever!

Be careful!!! Several of the villas back up to a very busy highway. Noise and security were an issue for us. Management was very poor and non-responsive. We will never go back!

The Royal Villas at Half Moon are great for families, groups or people that want to be in their own private secluded accommodation.
The great benefit is having Half Moon resort on your doorstep...so you can go and be part of the resort if you wish (horse riding, dolphin swimming, golf, spa and watersports to name a few activities on offer!)
The Royal Villas are reached on golf buggy (5-10 minutes) and you have your own 2 buggies during your stay. As you drive down the villa properties, it does seem quite tightly packed, like an avenue in America. But...when you are in your own villa, it is private and quiet. You have your own pool, garden area and beach BBQ. Many villas are not overlooked. You get a butler, housekeeper and cook in your villa...ours were friendly and really made us feel at home. They can prepare your breakfast in your villa...and cater to your every whim.

Wonderful stay at the Royal Villas at Half Moon. The villa was large, close to the ocean, with its own pool. The staff was excellent. They cooked dinners three times for our group (6 adults 2 children) and made breakfast each day. The resort itself is large, well organized, with lots to do. A perfect vacation for our extended family!

I come here every year on a girls trip. We always request AlWayne. He is by far our favorite butler, actually the only one we have ever had; wouldn't want it any other way! Love it here, treated like royalty and always have an amazing time. The spa is amazing too. Best massages ever! Can't wait to go back in 2011.
