Our first time to Jamaica. Fantastic resort, clean, friendly staff. We were on the beach side and opted to upgrade the last four days of our vacation to the suits. Not a big charge. Didn't like that you couldn't use all the amenities when you stay at the beach part...not a huge problem tho. We were on the third floor and would have preferred the top floor as we heard the cleaning lady in the mornings up above moving chairs around. Maybe it was guests. Food was fantastic, disco was a blast even for low season. It was busy their as there were a few weddings. I'de go back in a heart beat ... With my small kiddies next time as I missed them quite a bit. Can't say much about the restaurants as we were quite tired by the time evening came. Lots of activities during the day yet lots of space to have quiet time. I'm positive we will stay with iberostar in the future ( Cuba next).

My honey and I vacationed at Rose Hall Suites from 10/26/12 - 10/31/12. The hotel was a pleasant 20 minute ride from the airport. Upon arrival we were greeted with drinks and everyone was friendly. It was my man's birthday so they sent a mini birthday cake to his room--nice touch! The resort was beautiful and everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Our suite was updated, modern and clean--well except for the over sized tub which we didn't use anyway. Our balcony overlooked the pools and gardens and the beach. It was perfect! At check-in we made dinner reservations--beware if you visit in the off season, all restaurants aren't open everyday! Beware--we were told there is a 2 reservation limit per each stay. But we managed to get reservations at the two we wanted most--Gourmet and Japanese! Gourmet was superb upscale dining and our waiter Michael made it an extra special experience for us. I wanted to try two of the entree's lamb and grouper. I chose the lamb, but he then surprised me by bringing out the fish too! The Japanese restaurant was hibachi style and lots of fun--it is located at Rose Hall Beach (also a beautiful resort).

We partied at the resort club two nights and hung out at the main bar in the lobby. The drinks are a little watered down, but if you tip well you will be rewarded!! Be advised there is NO ALCOHOL in the room minibar--only water, soda and beer; and it is only stocked every other day!!!

The pool area was awesome. Two large pools and a slow river to relax. also a jacuzzi and swim up bar--great drinks if you tip well! We enjoyed water aerobics (with drinks) and poolside "poke-it-if-you-have-it" bingo. The beach is beautiful, clean and lots of chairs with drink service.

Tayna, our concierge was awesome. When we discovered our flights had been cancelled by Superstrom Sandy, he let us use his phone to arrange our flights (cheapcarribean.com agent was pathetic). Then his made reservations for us to go the additional restaurants . We dined at the "Steak House" (at Rose hall Beach) and at the "Cajun". Steaks at the House were great but the Cajun left a lot to be desired. If I remember correctly we actually left before dessert! All other nights we ate at the buffet which was pretty good! Breakfast is awesome everyday--try the callaloo!!

We had such a great time, we only left the property once to go snorkeling--which was awesome!! If you are looking to save a few bucks, I would suggest staying at the Beach Hotel because there inst much if any difference. We asked around and were told the only difference between Rose Hall Suites, Rose Hall Beach and Rose Hall Grand is the liquor served at the bar. But I don't believe it because we also hung out at the Beach Hotel bar and exact same liquor and drinks. We didn't have access to the Grand, but we did go to the spa at the grand and took a peek at the property. It was nice but not much different from our resort and the Beach Hotel. Perhaps they get top shelf liquor but still none in the rooms!

i would recommend this place--near perfect vacation!

Room Tip: Choose a 3rd or 4th floor room for the view!

Our Sept 5th through 11th week on the beach in Montego Bay, Jamaica at the Iberostar Hotel Suites was just stupendous! Words can’t express enough the fantastic time we had. Highly Recommended! Just can't say enough about this place. They have a superior/elevated level of treating their clientele well. No exaggeration...you will come close to feeling like royalty.

The hotel, the service, our suite was exceptional, the food at multiply restaurants (exquisite), infinity pool with swim up bar (Can you say JAMAICAN SUNRISE!?!). What’s not to like?

The white sand beach with a gal bringing you drinks nonstop, as you sun yourself doing your best imitation of an overfed beached sea animal ☺Ah, but then you have the state of the art fitness center, Roman style wellness spa to work it off or undo the damage…scratch that…at best you'll be neutralizing all the eating of the multi-national cuisine you couldn't help over indulging. It would be counted as a draw. Just think...jerked chicken, pork, stewed beef, dumpling, seafood, Jamaican cuisine at it's best, as much as you desire! Ah yes, a lovely assortment of fresh made mango/pineapple juice, or any alcohol libations of your choice.

Lots of activities within the resort. It was like being on a cruise ship that had permanently docked! You will find something to do from the morning to the wee hours of the night if you like! Way too many activities to mention. We went with friends from our Hall and had a ball. The resort is very much a family resort with lots of families around with kids. That wasn't an issue for us because if you wanted to you could be on the beach alone with your honey...no problem Mon. Plenty of real estate for all. Got treated to a lazy river bamboo raft tour on the Martha Rae river which was exceptional.

We've ventured out into the town of Montego Bay and yes it was touristy, but would you expect anything else? The locals were so nice in a lot of the shops. Yes, you’ll find some pouring on the hard sale, some will try to draw you into their shops. Some are out to hustle you, but for the most part that’s how a lot of the locals make a living. You have to go with your eyes keen and open! Nonetheless, you’ll still find it enjoyable because it’s still a vacation atmosphere. We saw many young couples of all ethnic groups shop hopping, bar hopping, strolling through the township enjoying themselves. It was one our best vacations ever.

What a spectacular way to spend your 22nd wedding anniversary. With my own Jamaica queen (who is now Americanized). We can't wait to go back. In fact, we'll definitely be back very soon. Next time with the kids...(We're still thinking about that)!

One last travel suggestion or point of concern for most travelers. Yes, it was in the middle of hurricane season, but sunshine for all the days we were there. We contemplated getting travelers insurance, but opted out saving about $200+ buckaroos. Our thinking behind that decision is that if the weather did change for the worst we would just enjoy the indoor amenities the resort had to offer and it offered plenty. So, all in all we did not fret over it and forgo the insurance fees. Plenty of souvenirs and t-shirts for family and friends.

Room Tip: Rooms looking out on the lazy river pool gets you a nice view of the beach. I don't know if you...

We just came back from a week at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites and couldn't be happier or more relaxed than we are.
The hotel is about half an hour away from the Montego Bay airport.
The property is gated with a security gate in front and on the beach were security guards patrolling as well.
The hotel itself is very big, has four floors and is in the shape of a "U". In the middle you have the two pools, one overflowing infinity pool overlooking the beach with a beach bar in it, a smaller pool for playing sports like volleyball or whatever and a "pool" about eight feet wide which curves around a bit and you can take a float and just float in a circle, just for fun.

The garden/ landscaping is very lush, with tropical plants everywhere and palms. The whole property struck us as very clean, people were constantly mopping, sweeping, cleaning and just keeping everything in shape.

The room we had was on the fourth floor, near the beach. We had a great overlook over the pool area which looked really inviting during the day and spectacular at night.
Our room was spacious, clean, we had a king size bed which was very comfortable and the bathroom was really nice too. Lots of granite and marble, with huge mirrors and a huge tub (had a nice shower as well).
We also liked that the doors to the hallway as well as to the balcony seemed to be double isolated or so, there was no sound coming through.
Drinks in the fridge, like different kind of soft drinks, water and beer were included and were refilled at least once a day.

The staff in the hotel was incredibly friendly, polite and always smiling, very pleasant.

Outside the hotel, up some stairs were three tennis courts located. Two were in excellent shape, the third one not so much but still playable. Water and bathroom facilities were there as well. We also met the tennis pro Alex who has a really nice game. We did not take lessons but observed other guests taking lessons with him. Alex is a very good pro and gives you not just a good workout but also really good advise for your game.

And now the food... we were told the hotel has a big main restaurant and several specialty restaurants. We wanted to try those but never got to it, the main buffet was just SOOO good.
It didn't matter if you got there for breakfast, lunch or dinner, there was always a big choice for everybody.
Lots of fresh fruits like passion fruits, water melon, papayas etc., lots of different kind of salads, different kind of fish dishes/ meat dishes, pasta, either ready to go or a cook can whip you something up, pizza ready to go, chicken, seafood dishes, meats and cheeses, yoghurts and a whole yummy dessert section.
The desserts were very good, a lot tasted like European desserts, very nice.
The food selection was always big, the dishes looked fresh and appetizing and very clean, so a big applause to the kitchen staff!

The beach had plenty of those umbrella huts and a lot of lounge chairs. The lounge chairs were a bit used up already (your butt was close to hitting the ground it felt like) but still manageable.
The beach did not really have palms though. The water of the sea was warm but with a good amount of seaweed.

Internet access did not exist in the rooms, unless you had a laptop with you. In the lobby you had FREE internet access, but the server was a bunch of times really slow. The lobby is huge, with a lot of seating available. In the evenings there was live music and a cozy atmosphere. A lot of people just hung out and played on their I-pads/ I-phones and just chilled.

In the end, if I would have to describe the whole Jamaican experience in one sentence, I would say "it was a very, very relaxing vacation with friendly people in a very luxurious place." If you just want to relax and recharge your batteries, this will do nicely :o).

Room Tip: Choose a room on the upper room, you will get rewarded with an amazing view of the property at night...

The Rose Hall Suites is about as clean and friendly a place as we've ever stayed. The staff must go through a rigorous Orientation program, with only the top notch being chosen to remain. We even saw small families and a fair number of small kids, which gave it an even friendlier touch. The breakfast and lunch Buffets were very satisfying and offered a nice variety of meat and nonmeat selections. As for the sit-down dinners that required reservations, our favorite was the Mexican, which offered much more than the typical fare, The evening entertainment differed every night, and the singers/dancers were VERY talented......not-to-mention very friendly and very willing to talk to you. The liquor was very good, with some top shelf selections. However, our room minibar was stocked only every 2 days and had only 3 not-very-tasty beers. Having the famous Red Stripe in the minibar would have been a nice touch. This is not a criticism, but if you are looking for a place that has sidewalks for you to walk anywhere beyond the Suites grounds, you will not find any. Nor will you find a bus. But, taxis and tours are easy to arrange. And, did I mention Clean? In 4 days, we never saw a grain of sand in any building, nor did we ever see any trash or even tiny pieces of paper on the sisewalks or grounds (which are very attractive and carefully attended to). Overall, we'd give the Rose Hall Suites a big thumbs up!

Room Tip: Not a High-Rise, so if you want to see the sun rise, choose a top or near-top floor.

My wife and I recently returned from our second vacation at the IB* Rose Hall Suites. We had a wonderful time. We flew Jet Blue connecting in JFK. Never again will we connect through JFK. In the future, if we are to travel to Jamaica, we will still use Jet Blue but connect through Orlando.

After our arrival at Sangster Int'l Airport things could have been smoother. We searched out and finally found our transfer company; Tropical Tours and they were terribly disorganized. Suitcases are loaded into the back of the mini-bus through a window. After waiting 20 minutes for our driver, from the airport to resort was about 40 minutes for about an hour total. Our return was simply ridiculous. On the return the driver was late and it took over an hour. Since he was late for our resort pick up means he would be late for the rest of the other resorts guests. When we stopped at the Riu MoBay the people to be picked up could not be found. He searched for 20 minutes to try and find the guests. DUH ! Since the Riu is about 10 minutes by taxi and he was very late to pick them up, it stood to reason; they got tired of waiting, or were worried, and they, more than likely, took a taxi to the airport. When we arrived at the airport the driver lowered all the luggage, yup, through the window. Next time; private transfer.

Check-in was very easy. We were greeted by a representative from the Public Relations Dept. She was wonderful and wanted to make sure we were made comfortable.

We had requested a top floor room near the beach and our request was honored. The room was beautiful and the a/c was perfect. The maid service was very good. She kept our room spotless and she was very pleasant. Our mini-fridge was stocked as requested on a daily basis. Room service is available but we did not use it. Although for our Anniversary Public Relations sent up chocolate covered strawberries and Champagne. We kept the strawberries but graciously declined the Champagne since we do not drink alcohol. Very thoughtful of the PR Dept. and just another in a long line of positive experiences with them.

The food throughout the resort was very good to excellent. We had requested a simple but special meal since we were celebrating our Anniversary and they were more than up to the task. We found the buffet to be very good with a wide variety of food. The coconut fish was outstanding. If there was something we wanted but was not on the buffet; the Chef and his cooks would go out of their way to satisfy any reasonable request. All of the restaurants, except Aunt Ruby's beachfront, are air conditioned and very comfortable. Aunt Ruby's is where we had lunch everyday and twice a week there was a BBQ on the beach. One day it included a Steel Band which added to the "Caribbean" feel of the resort.

The entire resort is extremely clean. The best part about the grounds, for us, was how easy it was to navigate the property. From the lower lobby to the beach it is approximately 60 yards. The infinity swim up bar is very nice and active but not overly loud up and until 5PM. We spent 90% of our time on the beach. We positioned ourselves halfway between the Suites and the Beach sections and the Beach was definitely louder. There is drink service on the beach and the waitresses were great and worked very hard.

The beach was very nice and there was absolutely no problem with securing a palapa at any time of the day. Granted, we were there in October which is "off season" but there seemed to be plenty of palapas and loungers for everyone. We did not have one rainy day and the temperature was between 86-88 F/ 30-32C. It did rain heavy a few night but another plus for this resort is; you never have to venture outside to go from your room to the restaurants. Even Aunt Ruby's is a short 10 yard walk from building #3. All buildings are connected by interior, air conditioned hallways.

While we were there; "Heroes' Day" was being celebrated by all of Jamaica. The occupancy jumped up considerably, with hundreds of Jamaicans, during the week-end but it never seemed crowded except for breakfast in the buffet. Even with the jump in occupancy, no problems securing a palapa at any time of the day. Entering the ocean was easy and at times the water was more like a lake than the ocean and that was perfect for us since we both have mobility issues. The water was remarkably clean with a tiny bit of the occasional piece of sea weed. Some people would complain about the rocks in the water. They were actually stones and,it's true, in some places there were more stones than other places. We found, directly in front of Aunt Ruby's restaurant was the best place to enter the water. People would walk down from the Grand section to use that portion of the beach. We were told, by more than one Grand guest, that the Grand section is the most rocky of the three beaches; Grand, Suites, and Beach.

We met some wonderful people from: Massachusetts (almost neighbors), New York,Jamaica, and Germany. We did not come across any obnoxious guests. Lots of people having a great time but nothing out of the ordinary. Security was always there but very discreet.

The staff at the IB* Rose Hall Suites is outstanding. They go out of their way to insure their guests have a wonderful vacation. The Resident General Manager goes out of her way to interact with guests and has a sincere concern for any problems. The Director of Public relations at the Suites is top notch. She has an "army" of assistants who go above and beyond to address any issue that need to be addressed, i.e.; restaurant reservations, or some requests as simple as, but much appreciated, printing out a boarding pass. I visited the Beach section and went into the Public Relations office with a very basic question; "what is the show tonight at the Beach section"? Three people,in the office, and they could not answer the question. To say the least; a very disorganized group. That is the ONE complaint, regarding our entire stay, at the IB* complex.

The rest of our vacation was perfect in many ways. The entertainment staff did a great job and were not "in your face" to participate. They would ask but after a couple of days realized we were not interested. They were very friendly but very respectful. A hard working group of very nice young people doing a great and difficult job; day in and day out.

Tipping: Everyday we tipped our maid, waiters/waitresses and others who went out of their way to make our vacation memorable.

In conclusion:
The IB* Rose Hall Suites runs like a "Swiss" no, "Austrian" clock (inside joke). I sincerely believe; "a well run business starts at the top". From the Resident General Manager and throughout her staff the "Suites" do a terrific job.

We refused to let the flights or the transfers mar or detract from our outstanding vacation and Anniversary celebration. We look forward to the day we will be able to return; whenever that may be.

Room Tip: Tell your T/A about request and follow up with an email a week before arrival

We researched several hotels, where to stay and what to do, ect , ect. The Iberostar Rose hall suites was fantastic! We loved our stay and could not believe the quality of service, food, shows and overall properties! The poolside bartenders and wait staff were so accomadating and friendly and many, many staff members (Gerard W was an awsome employee that stood out to us) always asked how our stay was, and if we have everything we need. The only time we did not hear this was when we checked out...we did not get so much as hope you enjoyed your stay, how were things, come again, ect. We also really did not feel welcomed upon arrival...so it seems it is just this area of the hotel (front desk) as the rest of the staff made up for this 10 fold. We plan to return to this beautiful resort, people and the island of Jamacia. It truly is a beautiful place and would recommend this highlighly to any one. It is a little more than some other options in area, but is well worth the extra cost and don't feel at all that it was not worth it.

Room Tip: Bring a extension cord if you have things to plug in as very limited plugs. I needed one for my CPAP...
