I loved the scenery and rugged beauty of this area. There was a photograph waiting at every turn. I loved the walk through the flax and watching the water crash against the rocks and come up through the blowholes. We went in the fall (May) so there weren't a ton of people there. Overall I was glad this was one of our many destinations in New Zealand.

I was not expecting this attraction to be as good as it was. An enjoyable stroll through the native bush to see the rocks and blowholes. A beautiful walkway and fantastic lookout points which enable a very spectacular look at these amazing rocks. Interesting written information boards along the way too. We arrived at high tide which I think was the best time and sea was really pounding in and creating some spectacular water spray and blowholes. 3 kids found it quite exciting and really enjoyed it. Got some great photos too. Well worth the drive to see.

Not to be missed, but make sure you go at high tide for the most dramatic effect. Great walk through the flax to the sea. Very easy walk and suitable for wheelchairs. Take your time and stay for a while and watch the waves pounding into the surge pool.

Prior to seeing the actual pancake rocks, one will get to pass through some greenery and plants with explanation (which is very nice)! The west coast's climate is really unpredictable and it was raining every few minutes. Still, the sight of the pancake rocks along with explanation is amazing and very interesting! The erratic weather also mean you may see a rainbow - I did!

As this is winter time, there weren't much people or activities going on. It will be nice to stay for a longer period during other seasons. :) beach nearby was a formidable sight too as great for photo taking!

I highly recommend everyone to visit the pancake rocks! The sight is amazing! You can see the vast beaches and the rough tasmanian sea! Its new zealand just how you are imaging it! And visiting the pankcacke rocks is for free :)
