This is a place for those who enjoy the outdoors, gentle walks and garden. This was my second trip and there are many more walks to do. Before you enter, the guide provides you with mosquito repellent. We spent about an hour here. The garden has many water ornamental features with waterfalls. It was nice and cool to get away from the blazing heat. Be mindful of grass snakes.

Wonderful place for photographers and there are local cooking classes one can take for a small fee inside. Amazing variety of plants and trees with water and a giant swing that one can just sit in taking in the view and ambience. From the batu ferringhi region about 10 mins in the car.

Although it costs more this is one of those places where its all about the knowledge behind the plants. We got to see, sniff and even taste different spices. We heard about why spices are important and how spices are used. I have heard of and used most of the spices covered but I learnt a lot more about them. The boys 7 and 9 also enjoyed it but said it would be boring without the tour. Its easy to get to on the 101 bus.

We booked the cooking course online and took the bus 101 from the central bus station in the morning, the journey took around 40mins. When we arrived we had a guided tour of the garden and the guide pointed out the different plants and spices and their usage, it was very interesting to learn about them as we don't have these tropical spice plants back at home. We were lucky that there were only two of us who were attending the cooking course and we had Pearly Lee, who is a renowned Nyonya chef and published her own cook book. We made sweet potatoe soup and snacks with top hats. It was great fun and the food was delicious, we later ate it in the garden while chatting to Pearly, who told us about her life and recommended some great restaurants to us in Georgetown. There is also a spice shop where you can stock up on spices or buy some presents.
