We had visited this place along with my parents in Jul 08... we had booked the cottage in the rear side for 2 nights... Nice place with a sit-out to see the clouds just floating by!

Food was good and stay was good!

Stayed with family for 4 nights from 28th December to 1st January. Without wasting further reading time here goes the plus and minus :

First the good points :

1. Lots of space all around with a small garden for children to run and play.
2. Good food, thanks to cook Govind Singh and team.
3. Very courteous service from all staff. Special mention for Manish, Deepak and Ashwin.
4. Geysers and room heaters available in every room.
5. Heritage ambience with wooden flooring and ceiling.
6. Away from the hustle and bustle of the mall yet, not too far.
7. Reasonable pricing with 'feel at home' facilities.
8. Rooms are of decent size. Currently all rooms are undergoing renovation. The best room is Number 310 on the 3rd floor. The bigger rooms do not have a lake view.

Now the minus points :

1. All rooms are old and require renovation.
2. Very poor heating arrangement during winter. Hence best to visit during summers and upto November.
3. Frequent power cuts with generator back up not adequate to support both room heater and geyser. Hence, again, best not to visit during severe winter months. (Owner, Mr. Sharma has however promised better heating facilities in the months to come ).
4. No central heating in lobby area and outside rooms due to infra issues. Hence, again, avoid visiting during harsh winter months.
5. Old hotel with old furniture and old furnishing. Toiletries also not up to the mark. Even the furniture on the garden is plastic chairs and a broken down swing. Hence, negotiate hard on the price !
6. Located on a very steep incline. However, hotel provides transport to and from the mall upto 8 pm.

Overall, a homely hotel where I would certainly return for good food and a nice ambience. Hope Mr. Sharma, the owner, invests in a little better makeover in the next few months.

It was a soujourn on the way to Corbett. The hotel was very good. Such hotels with colonial architecture have become very rare. The building was nicely decorated with some furnitures from old days. Even after renovation it still hold the charm. We had a non-lake facing room. Naini lake was visible from the garden in front of the Hotel. Food was very good. Room service and the courtsey extended to us by hotel staff is the real point to remember the hotel for a long time. Though the location is not exactly very good, specially the last strech with stee[p slope . Not advisable if you have old person in your group.

we stayed at this hotel from nov. 10 to nov.12 with my family. The property is well maintained and is at good location a bit steep slope to reach the hotel but very nice location. It is in the town, very close to the market yet we feel we are at a quite place away from the busy life of the town. The staff is very cordial from manager to the service boy. The interiors are very superb. The cleanliness and the room service is very prompt. It was the start of the winter and how can we forget the gun-guna water brought by the service boy. The room interiors well maintained and in proper working condition. And and Food - very delicious and tasty.

Stayed at this hotel in November 2013 with my Family, took a long overdue vacation off work & was worth !!!. The location of the property is good, elevated towards a small mountain slope, you need to walk up steep elevated lane (that compensates your daily walk and gym routine), midtown, closer to shopping markets. Till I reached the hotel I had lot of apprehensions of how and what would it be like. But once I reached I was relieved, I would not count it among the other luxury resorts available in Nainital though, it was cozy and the old architecture gives you a feel of old colonial wooden styled living on a hillside.
Being in hospitality industry, I was accommodated on special offer by the GM sales.
The rooms offered to us were large, spacious, and tastefully done up. The sleeping comforts were appropriate and as it was chilling in Nainital, we were provided with extra blankets and heat convectors.
The bathrooms were tiled, spacious, fitted with large geysers (though one of the room geysers was kept disconnected most of the time, due to some power supply issue), but when needed we were provided with hot water buckets, and that was quick.
The restaurant is a common area in the main hall right in the middle of the main building,The food was good and buffet spread was sumptuous. The meal charges per person buffet lunch/dinner was little on the higher side, with respect to the food, but again no complaints. Room service was quick.
The view from the property was fabulous, especially the lawns outside were a great comfort during the morning where we soaked in the sunlight during those winter morning. They have swings for kids, that made my son happier.
The staff was courteous, helpful and did cater to some special meal requests for my 5 year old kid.
I would definitely not think twice to recommend this hotel to my friends in the middle segment lodge accommodations. The best part is that m family enjoyed it and they didn't complained on a single thing !!!! Cheers to the staff at the hotel....

Room Tip: Try get second floor rooms as it keeps you far from the main hall area and would be less noisy. ther...

I have been with my family at this hotel. Location of this property is the best in Nainital, very calm and away from city buz with small good garden. Hotel give the flavor of old Raj Kapoor movies. Hotel staff is very pleasing and always ready to help with smile.
The best thing of this hotel is food and service. Hotel serves very good, homely food which family will love for sure. They also help with specially prepared food for kids which is very important when you travel with your kids. This Hotel is excellent place to stay with family though bit costly. Services will bring smile on your face and don't mind paying some extra amount.

Room Tip: lake veiw rooms are excellent choice
