“Budget hotel with not so good experience”
Reviewed July 4, 2011

This is a budget hotel with ok type of rooms. The ground floor rooms had carpet which was stinking. The rooms on the upper floors had tiles so that was managable but the pillow covers, bedsheets, towels were stinking. When we complained about that, the staff told us that they were not dried properly due to the weather as we tavelled during rainy season (28- Jun-11). The food was fine but the service was quite slow. We had booked the room through cleartrip so we were given the rooms having the worst view. They prefer the people coming through direct booking. The hotel is far from the Mall road if you travel by car but it there is a lane through which you can walk down to the mall road in just 10 min. Walking down is fine but other way round is tough as it is too steap and for that they offer a free cab service from the mall road. But this cab service has fixed timing and capacity so make sure you don't miss it.

Room Tip: Go for direct booking in the hotels

On my unplanned visit to Nanital I came across with this hotel. Needless to say thwtnI did not have any prior booking but had to choose this nhotel as nothing else was available (or I could not find it). The rooms are very bad and service is poor. We booked three rooms, two super deluxe and one luxury base. None of the rooms were good. In super deluxe mattress was broken and remote for TV did not work, in other one there was some pungent smell. Luxury base seems to be over crowded. Hotel guys could not provide towel sets and water in bathrooms is a problem. Buckets in bathrooms were so dirty that I could not gather courage to use them. You can imagine the quality by the fact that waiters were wearing torn uniform. It takes ages to get your problem addressed forget about getting it resolved. Have good parking space and hotel also provides shuttle service to mall road. It takes 10 minutes walk to reach mall road. I would never stay in this hotel again

we enquired in almost 10 hotels for a budget which did not exceed over 1500. most hotels did have the rooms in tarrif chart but fot some unexplained strange reason they refused to show it (probably never existed). then we came across aroma hotel to our surprize it did have a room of 1600. the room was neat enough to live in, toilets were clean and we did not have much issue with it, i think its a good budget hotel, we were able to park our car just outside our room, considering nanital has a big parking issue and most hotels were not accessable...........they had a lot of stairs to climb. aroma maybe a lesser known place but definatly a good hotel- food was good and very well priced.
if you are driving down to naintal, i think it would be a better option. the fact that they have free car service on call for all guests, which is very helpful if you are in an unfamiliar city..........
i would go there again.
staff was very co-operative and services were good, considering the hotel was fully occupied.

We booked this hotel as part of a package to Nainital and Corbett. I can say that one reason why we enjoyed our trip was due to the excellent accomodation. I requested the owner for an upgrade in Hotel Aroma Nainital and he acceded to our request. The room was spacious with comfortable bed, clean bathroom and a TV with working remote (which is not often the case in similarly priced hotels). The hotel provides free parking which is a big plus. Note that most lakeside hotels will not provide any parking. The location of the hotel is good, though it is not lakeside, and we can reach the mall road by walking downhill in 5 to 10 mins. For returning, the hotel provides free pickup service. The food was good. The only problem was that hot water is provided only between 7am to 11am. Overall, I can say that Hotel Aroma Nainital is not a luxury hotel, nor does it pretend to be so, but it is an excellent value for money. I would also like to add that their sister hotel in Corbett where we stayed in the next leg of our trip, called Corbett Aroma Park (not Hotel Corbett Aroma which is a different hotel one kilometer apart) is a beautiful resort with excellent rooms. This is a brand new resort, and hence all rooms and furnishings were new. The downside of being new was that recreational activities were not operational (March 2011), but I guess these would be operational soon. The hotel also arranged my Jeep Safari and Elephant Safari very professionally and made things easy for me. This resort is more expensive than their Nainital hotel, and is much more luxurious. Also, compared to the exorbitantly priced resorts nearby, Corbett Aroma Park is good value for money.

Me and my wife arrived at Nainital from Dehradoon by train. We hired a taxi outside Kathgodam station which is the rail head for Nainital. After climbing the ghats we arrived at the scenic and beautiful Nainital town. We reached Aroma hotel after a brief climb since it is around 2 kms from the main town area.
Location- Is beautiful with trees around and situated higher than the main town area. The hotel has regular jeep transfer service from the mall end road to the hotel till 9 PM which makes it convenient. You can also walk down/ up a path leading to the town if you wish to burn some calories.
Rooms- We had taken a premium room which was very big and has a spacious bath room with bath tub. The rooms are old but comfortable. It was very cold for us when we arrived and felt almost freezing. The hot water was till 10 AM when we visited in November.
Service – It was ok but nothing to write about. We had to ask for towels etc and initially call them to get things fixed. But once we settled down, the room service delivered hot breakfast and tea which made us feel very comfortable.
Food – The food was good and we did not have any complaints on the breakfast and dinner we had. We used to lunch out since we were on sight seeing during the day. We have to rely on the room service since their restaurant was not functional at that time and there are no restaurants nearby.
Finally what we liked most was the location of the hotel and offers good value for money. The food is good. However it is highly recommended that you make your own transport arrangements since the hotel staff even though assuring us of arranging travel, in the end we had to fend for ourselves which was the only sore experience. I recommend this hotel as a good option away from the hustle and bustle of the main town.

The hotel is as good as the title says. The hotel gives a decent view and in my opinion is a good one for nainital as you hardly stay in the hotel. We were always out on sight seeing or activities and hence did not want to spend too much on a hotel and this one served our purpose. Dont go with too many expectations. the climb upto the rooms is a little tedious.
