We stayed there fr 2 nights..The rooms we were given was spacious,, with beautiful wooden work n sofas. Just that the maintenance was not very good. Washrooms were just OK, could have been better. The service was ok, but the manager i guess did not believe in hospitality. Didnot order food from the hotel,, as there were many good options on the mall road nearby..

Room Tip: Pick the room adjacent to the dining area.

Hotel Evelyn has a good location and a great view. The hotel is in urgent need of renovation. The staff is not too interested to working. Alright hotel to stay for a night. The location is very beautiful, the view it has early in the morning just after sunrise is worth the pain of staying in the stinky rooms.

Room Tip: Go during off season to get an average room otherwise you wouldnt even get a decent room.

Evelyn Hotel in Nainital, Uttarakhand, India

A vintage hotel that has lost much its charm through neglect and delayed refurbishing! While the family rooms above have been renovated, the double bed rooms below are in a bad condition.
The rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors are poorly maintained with decrepit furnishing, dirty and broken electric and telephone fittings, dated and soiled sofas and chairs, and abysmally hung drapes.
Large, unkempt bathrooms with broken toilet seats, without hot water geysers (hot water available for two hours only every morning from a wood burning furnace), uninviting and cold dining room, no room heating (electric heater available upon request only), shoddily maintained furnishings and no wireless internet access are typical of a part of this hotel now.
The location is very good since it is situated just besides the main road and close to the Nainital Lake and in proximity to the market area. Not a very noisy place considering the traffic on the road below.
The bearers try to provide good and prompt service to customers, despite the apparent laid back management of the property. Overall, service is good.
The food is of fairly good quality but nothing compared to what it was 30 years ago when the property was run like an excellent hotel under an English lady's management.

Room Tip: Avoid the double bed room lower floor rooms of this hotel, if you can. Stay here only if nothing better is available in the hill station. If run well, it would be a boon for the elderly who can not climb the hills easily to have access to better hotels located at higher elevations.

This is a high time when this hotel needs renovation. Oddly designed rooms snatches away the ease and comfort of staying in this hotel. Hotel doesn't score high when it goes to cleanliness and rooms and bathrooms have some strange stench. Got shockingly surprised by seeing cocked wash basin ducts.
But the Good part of the hotel is courteous and decent hotel staff which in turns make this hotel stands high on service quality level. The other good thing about this hotel is it's location which gives a perfect lake view. ( Food quality is decently good )

But overall not an ideal place to stay in Nainital when you have other hotels in the same budget.
