I have just returned from my first visit to Pure Mountains Expert week. Some of the most exciting and exhilarating riding I have done for a very long time. The accommodation and food were all top notch, Jenny and Tim were fantastic hosts. I hadn't done this type of extreme riding for a long time and Tim,s advice on tackling some of the harder sections was invaluable and never felt pushed into something I was not happy about doing. I am now saving hard for my next visit, which hopefully won't be too long. I would highly recommend Pure Mountains to anyone who would like too push there limits .

Completed 4 grueling days of Mountain Biking with Pure Mountains last week - modest mileages per day (25 to 30 miles) but tough days with climbing of around 1900m per day. The trails were awesome with a wide variety from narrow single tracks to full on rock slides. Shared the experience with some great chaps and have memories to keep forever. The rooms are real ace as is the food, beer and wine. Tim and Jenny are excellent hosts and I have no qualms about posting this so that others can experience the same level of enjoyment. Well done you guys.

This really is a great spot. Accomodation easily the best I've had on an MTB holiday. The location is phenomenal, high above the mountain villages, off the paved roads. Great attention to detail in all respects. Great riding, weather, people, food etc. etc.. Trying to find some time to get back there, would recommend Pure Mountains unreservedly. Deero.

My second visit to Pure Mountains and it only gets better. Superb riding in the Sierra Nevada with a huge variety of trails. I've ridden in Marin, Durango & Flagstaff and the quality of the riding is right up there.

What makes the experience exceptional is the expertise and hospitality of Tim and Jenny. They've put a huge amount of effort into making the accommodation, food (it's worth going just for the food!) and guiding the best it can be. You won't find better hosts or a better setup.

Trip number three is already being planned.

I can safely say it was the best mountain biking I've experienced. Everything from the guides/hosts, food, drinks, accommodation to, most importantly, the trails was amazing.

I went as part of a stag weekend with a group of very mixed ability riders. Tim and Jenny were excellent, splitting the group into two for large portions so the more experienced riders like me didn't get frustrated riding within themselves. The lung and leg busting climbs were complimented perfectly by the balls out speed of some blazing singletrack descents. If you're into that kinda thing the Sierra Nevada is like the best park in the world and Pure Mountains have the knowledge to guide you around it.

It was really good value as well, with food and drink included in the price. If I weren't terminally skint, I'd go every year. I highly, highly recommend it.

Room Tip: It's closer to two years ago that I was there but I can't imagine anything has changed much...

This was our second time at Pure Mountains hosted by Tim and Jenny. It is difficult to summerize all positive input that we have from our trip but we will try.
When it comes to their farmhouse it is situated very beautiful up in the mountains just above the village Bérchules on 1700m above sea level. The surrounding is very beautiful, it is like looking at a postcard. The farmhouse has four en-suite bedrooms and a common room next to the kitchen were a fridge full of beer and wine were placed. It was a help yourself mentality. Which we Swedes enjoyed. The beer and both red and white wine was really nice ones.

Breakfast, trail tea, lunch pic nic (set up from the van in the mountains), afternoon tea with cake and 3 of 5 dinners were included in the price. It was plenty to eat and everything were very fresh and well cooked. Very tasty. The two dinners out were at the Bérchules Hotel. Where you had to choose between 3 starter, 2 main dishes and 2 desserts. That was the trickiest part of the trip. All of the dishes were really tasty and it was hard to decide what to have.

The guiding by Tim and Jenny (they take turns to guide and drive the van) is top notch! Even if the group members have different biking knowledge they find paths that suites everyone. Sometime the group split in to two to take two different downslopes and after that meet each other again to continue biking together. This make all of us feel safe because they put everyones safety first. They are very professional about this and that makes everyone confident when it comes to biking. If Tim and Jenny let you do a special downslope that's the same that you have the skills to do it which gives you more confidence when you ride it. They are very encouraging and make you push your limits in a good way. And all of this with a good laugh and a lot of humor for example this climb will only take 20 minutes (it took at least 30), now it is only downhill (with at least 2-3 20min climbs in between) and so on......

Almost all climbing were on dirt double track and the downhill were on double track, singel track and really technical singel track with lots of loose stons, thorns, rocky parts and so on... They have single track from heaven there. The only thing that will stop you from explore all of them is time, your fitness and your skills. Prepare yourself for hard but very fun work and that you will challenge yourself when it comes to riding.
Everyday you start high, climb even higher and ends going downwards. Lovely!

Conclusion:
If you love biking single track this is the place to go to. You need to be prepared to ride technical singel track under high speed because you pick up speed so easily. At home climb on your bike a lot of up hill to be as prepared as possible because the hight will give you a hard work.

We will for sure go back for more. We are addicted to this. Thanks Tim and Jenny for everything!

Having just come back from a long epic weekend of riding with Pure Mountains, I just had to write a review.

The farm is in ideal location above the village of Berchules, the views from there are fantastic, the rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated all with en-suite and get plenty of natural light. The food; we ate at the farmhouse for breakfast which was plentiful and what you need to get you started for a day in the saddle.
Lunch was supplied on route where we meet with the support vehicle; dinner was also supplied at the farmhouse for two nights.
There was plenty of food to go around, it tasted good and was freshly prepared, the curry night went down particularly well.
There was plenty of fruit around on the tables and wine and beer in the fridge. I am a bit fussy about my wine, but the wine provided was good I tried several glasses or was it bottles...of both the red and the white.
For two evenings we dined at the local hotel, owned by a very charming English lady (Wendy) The food here was again very good and the menu limited to 3 starters/mains/puddings based on local produce and recipes, we all tried different things and were all happy with the dish chosen, "The pork was incredibly moist and tender" The fish soup was very good indeed and the chicken skewers succulent with the right amount of spice.

Now what we have all come here for the riding, I hired one of their new Giants Trance X0 which I can say was a pleasure to ride, it climbed well and was very nimble to manoeuvre down the single stuff. Speaking of the single stuff there seems to be an endless amount of it around starting from the doorstep, the ones we did presented some good challenges, both in fun and technical aspects. We also did some fast double tracks which if you are a speed junkie like me you will love. I really liked cycling through the sleepy Spanish villages, which offered some urban obstacles and jumps.
Tim and Jenny are very friendly, knowledgeable and skilful on the bike, they assess the level of riders very quickly and pick routes within their ability and they also provide plenty of tips to improve confidence and technical skills. The best part is they make it fun which is what it's really about. The people we shared the riding with were great too, which made the whole weekend an enjoyable experience. I ended the last day with the "leap of faith" what a buzz... So one happy customer.

Phrases of the weekend.

"Tim is the man when it comes to fixing bikes"
"Swedish Giant"
"Kim is dead"
"You can't roll off of that"
"Colour TV"
"Dave who? He is dead to me"
"Pingis lunga" I think that's the spelling and it’s not rude…
"Italian stallion"
"Happy thoughts"

No one died in the making of these phrases, if you want to know the meaning go and visit Tim or make your own up during your rides.
