“A slice of heaven”

Spent a wonderful 7 nights at El Paraje. Have never visited before but Brenda & Filip (the new owners) are definatley carrying on the high standards as previously reviewed here. The accomodation is comfortable and very clean with 'to die for' views, the food delicious and incredibly warm and welcoming service. El Paraje has a little bit of everything - peace & quiet, great location for hiking, horse riding, mountain biking & wildlife spotting, and it is easily a day trip driveable distance to Granada for visiting the Alhambra and city. We have never gone back to a place twice but El Paraje may become the exception.

The new owner managers proved to be particularly helpful and charming multi-lingual hosts with two delightful young daughters. Comfortable and clean room. Delicious 4 course dinners, freshly squeezed orange juice, full cooked breakfast plus fruit . We stayed for 4 rejuvenating days early March, crisp mornings, clear blue skies ideal for walking. Highly recommended for a relaxing indulgent break.

We had a really lovely week at El Paraje. Anita and Walter, the owners, were very welcoming and attentive. Walter's food was excellent. The other guests were very friendly. We stayed during the fig harvest, so it was fabulous to be able to pick a fresh fig from a tree to munch while we relaxed on the terrace overlooking a wonderful view.

We stayed at El Paraje for 8 days and had a great time exploring the area. The location is beautiful, surrounded by walking paths and local birds and wildlife. You could explore locally, but we had a car and took day trips to Granada, around the valley to other hikes and local wineries. The hosts have been there for 10 years and are incredibly knowledgeable about the area. They know the best places to go including restaurants, wineries, hikes, tourist spots. Trail information includes marked trails on their property, maps of many hikes in the valley and GPS information (see their webpage). The location is quiet but was great for our 8 year old daughter to play and explore. The food they prepared was excellent. Breakfast was included but dinner was extra and well priced for what you received.

We stayed here 18th March 2011 with our 4 year-old daughter, this place really puts the 'rural' into casa rural, possibly the most peaceful location we have stayed in, we enjoyed an excellent meal with local friends here, and after they had left the night was so silent you could almost hear the stars shining. The following morning after an extended breakfast (our daughter woke up rather too early) we went for a walk - stunning views & the peace only disturbed by cowbells. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

We were here for five sunny days in February, have been extremely lucky with the weather, and had simply a splendid time. This is a hikers paradise. If you have the time to invest in a road trip (two and a half hours from Malaga airport) on the curvy mountain roads you will be rewarded! Very friendly and helpful hosts. Terrace provides breakfast with a far view on the mediterranean as well as the white Sierra Nevada mountain tops. Fenomenal detailed available hiking information + maps.

Lovely, simple, easy place which has the perfect views and location for a visit to the Alpujarras. The rooms are clean, comfy and unfussy, leaving you to enjoy the peace of the landscape around you un-hurried. We had a TOTAL nightmare locking keys into the boot of our car, Walter was an absolute hero, helping us sort that out and he and Anita were extremely tolerant of our getting tow trucks out in the middle of the night to one of the more remote parts of Spain too! The food was lovely, and home cooked, great value wines to sip after a hard day's walking - we didn't get to explore at all given the totally unhelpful people at Europcar - but the hotel hosts had a file of walks for all abilities , and a full suite of kit to borrow for the hardier hikers. A true bolt hole, run by two lovely people - they actually charged us LESS for single occupancy rooms too - which is a first in my experience. Walter helped us through what could have ruined our holiday, and we will be forever grateful. A lovely spot, just wish we had been able to enjoy some of the walks too.
