“Beautil mountain location, physical state very good, something wrong about the service”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

Excellent location in beautiful mountain environment. Room: very good for a 3 star hotel, 3rd bed is good quality. 2 small remarks: queen bed is made out of twins, by the morning you have a hole in between. Bathmat could be changed on daily basis, we had to use other towels as water is coming out of the shower. Pool: could be open from 7am, if you pay a higher value for a 3star hotel because of pool facility, you want to swim before breakfast. The person in the pool area is sitting constantly in his cabine either eating, phoning, reading and he is extremely rude if you ask a question about the towels. He makes it clear that we should know the rules. Restaurant: meals very average, fresh though and all prepared for quantity. Even if you want to pay for a special dish, you are told we do not do it. The waiters are afraid of the guests for some reason it can be strongly felt. Bar in Zsuzsanna building: waiters are not allowed to go out of the counter. This is extremely irritating, they are not trained at all for real service, sometimes they are overloaded. The bar should have a proper light snack menu. The hot sandwich is served poorly, no salad or decoration, not even ketchup available. The waiters do not know the drinks available on the list. In general the hotel is good but something is wrong around the personnel, it can be felt that they do not dare to approach the guests in a friendly manner. One more small thing: I do not like half board as the meal is very late in the evening. You can not book this hotel unless you pay halfboard price for the room. For me this is a reason with the service for which I will not go back with my family.

I visited this hotel early 2009, since then my sister's family and my parents-in-law have also been there based on my recommendation. The hotel is situated in the beautiful Matra mountain in the northern part of the country. In the neighboring villages you can find many places that well worth a visit: the Recsk Forced Labour Camp Museum, the waterfall in Ilona Valley and the Sirok Fortress can also be accessed quite easily. If you get bored with all the wellness facilities that the hotel offers (you won't, by the way :) ), you can still take a tour or visit the places mentioned above. There are two buildings: Zsuzsanna wing is the new one, whereas Erzsébet is the old castle-like building. Zsuzsanna is farther away from the main road, so I recommend booking a room in that building since it is more peaceful and it is overlooking a beautiful hillside. Also, there are two wellness/fitness sections in the hotel, one in the old and one in the new building respectively. Since the two buildings are connected with a corridor, you can easily switch from one to the other at any time you want. There is a steam cabin, swimming pool, different kinds of saunas, jacuzzi, etc. that guarantee that you will have a pleasant time there. Also, there is a very nice restaurant that offers excellent food at a very moderate price. Staff is friendly and helpful, rooms are clean and spaceous, what else can you long for?

Stayed over here for a couple of days during last summer. It is a gem in the North- Hungarian Mountains. We made a lot of day- trips to the surroundings and enjoyed returning back to have a nice dinner, a good swim in the pool and some cocktails. We stayed in the brand- new wing, those rooms are outstanding. Can`t tell anything about rooms in the older part. They have wellness facilities, bowling, cafe, tennis court, inside- outside pools...
They had buffet- style dinner that time. Both breakfast and dinner was very good. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms in the brand new Elisabeth- wing are surely all outstanding. I assume it is the same in the &q...

This little hotel in the middle of Mátra mountains in Hungary is nicely renovated, great spa experience included and the location offers nice trips in the surroundings. Staff could be a bit nicer..

We stayed there for four nights with two children in summer. The rooms are various, you can relax in two excellent wellnes areas, outdoor big swimming pool is also available. The park is beautiful! All facilities can be used as biliard, bowling, two caffe bars etc. On Fridays live music shows! All these at very good price! We can recommend to everyone!

Very good quiet hotel with big garden and nice swimming pools and jacuzzi. Hotel score is aimed at the Hungarian and many from staff don't speak other language. All indications and information in the hotel are only in Hungarian. I recommend the wing Zsusanna (rooms 2xxx). In restaurant room a little dirty but good foods. Only one restaurant a-la carte and closed after 16 because HB option.
