When I stay in places like this it makes me want to own a hotel!

Great place with a really good mix of nationalities including plenty of Greek Mainlanders which was lovely.

All the staff were extremely helpful whether it was hiring a car, buying an ice cream or spending the night in their yummy reasonably priced restaurant.

Gouvia is a 5 minute walk down the hill and about a 20 minute walk back up and probably not suitable for less physically able people. However, we found after a bottle of vino or 2 the walk got much easier :0)

Saint Nicholas is a very nice hotel located in a perfect spot in the outskirts of Gouvia. Very close to the marina which was important for us since we had some friends staying on their sailing boat.
The hotel is great and its location very peaceful so we were able to enjoy excellent sleeping quality. We also enjoyed a lot the gardens and the pool. We spent long hours reading in the early morning just sitting by the pool while no one else was around.
We also enjoyed some great meals (both lunches and dinners) at the hotel's taverna that is just by the pool. The food was delicious and the prices really good.

We booked a break here with half board.

The room we had was quiet on the first floor. It was comfortable, with a kitchen and fridge in a wardrobe, useful for boiling water to drink! The room was very large and roomy. We asked for a bathmat, and were provided with one. The bathroom tiles were very shiny and potentially slippery.

The wi fi internet connection in the room was free, and worked extremely well. The satellite TV only had CNN in English, but we found the wi fi made up for this.

The outdoor pool was lovely, and the prices of ice cream and drinks very reasonable. Plenty of shade under the trees, but no enough sun umbrellas. Weather was great and we could relax by the pool.

We did a coach trip around Corfu which was excellent.

The evening meals were delicious, but a fixed menu was served on half board. Fortunately we liked everything that was served. The waitress and manager of the bar restaurant were charming and gave a personal service. A choice of meals would be appreciated.

Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice.

The manager and receptionist were extremely friendly and helpful at all times.

The beach reached by a short walk down the hill, and a busy main road, is one of the best we have seen abroad. With a duck pond, and access to an ancient Venetian Boatyard.

When we left we were waived goodbye by the Manager and Owner. This is a testament to the dedication of this hotel to look after all of it's visitors, like one of the "family".

We experienced mosquito bites, but understand that this is the norm at this time of the year all over Corfu.

Room Tip: The hotel has no lifts, ask for a ground floor room if stairs are an issue.

After having read the reviews on here we felt confident that the hotel would be clean, welcoming and peaceful, and we weren't disappointed.

The rooms are fairly basic, but clean and spacious.

The pool area is lovely and quiet, and no problems with sunbeds.

Worth noting that this hotel isnt really for anyone with walking difficulties, or perhaps for the very elderly - the road down to the main resort is fairly steep.

The staff are very friendly and accommodating - on our last day, they even let us use our room to shower and change (hours after we were due to check out) at no extra cost.

Thoroughly recommend.

Lovely hotel, friendly & helpful staff. Rooms are very spacious & clean. The "kitchen" area is basic but adequate if you're only wanting hot & cold drinks and snacks/salads. It's great to have use of a fridge. Breakfast is good, if a bit repetitive after 7 days but quantity & quality is fine. The pool bar is great for lunch but lacks choice & quality for an evening meal. Location is brilliant if you want peace & quiet - spend the day by the clean & decent-sized pool then take a 10-15 minute walk to the town where it's all happening!

Saint Nicolas hotel Gouvia Corfu

A week at the Saint Nicolas hotel in Gouvia was the exact kind of holiday that we all needed. I went in July 2012 with two female friends who also work hard juggling family, work and homes.
The hotel
The hotel is clean and well cared for and the staff are very friendly. We spent our sunny mornings on the hotel balcony eating leisurely breakfasts overlooking lush pine forests and rocky hillsides. The comfortable hotel room had a small kitchen area equipped with four hobs, coffee maker, toaster and basic crockery/cutlery. The hotel room was basic but clean and comfortable. We each had a single bed and space for suitcases and holiday clothes. An adequate bathroom with shower and bath and air conditioning throughout (though we did purchase a fan due to the 38 degree heat).
Afternoons by the pool in the beautifully-maintained hotel gardens and evenings exploring the nearby shops and beach town just a 15 minute walk away.

Shopping
There are so many places to go shopping while you stay at the Saint Nicolas hotel. A 15 minute car journey will take you to Corfu town. This is a much busier environment with a variety of shops, restaurants and bars. There’s plenty to see and do.
If you want a more peaceful shopping experience, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Gouvia town is just a short walk from The Saint Nicolas hotel. There are friendly souvenir shops, chemists and supermarkets for everything that you might need while you’re away from suntan lotion to baby’s bottles.
Eating out
We ate out every night. We ate in our apartment for breakfast and lunch and then ventured to a different restaurant each night to sample the local food and wine.

Getting around
We hired a car one day all arranged by the hotel. For £40 we were able to see other parts of the island.
We had a relaxing and pleasant holiday and would definitely recommend it if you want to recharge your batteries and just need to get away

Having just returned after our second visit, I felt compelled to share my thoughts with you. If you are looking for a hotel to chill out at, then this is the place for you. Ideal for couples and families alike. The pool is set in lovely gardens with olive trees providing shelter from the baking sun. There are plenty of sun beds to go round, so don't rush down in the morning to book your bed. The rooms are spacious and spotless, with a daily maid service. The poolside restaurant/snack bar offers well cooked food at competitive prices, so if you don't want to move from the poolside, stay where you are. The staff are all very friendly and eager to please.
The hotel is located above the town (approx 10 mins walk) along a quiet road. Yes there is a hill, but so what? You will welcome the exercise.
Book it now, you will not regret it!

Room Tip: All rooms are equally good.
