Location is really good, 30 second walk from all the restaurants and shops and also the pebble beach.

Rooms are small and simple but reasonably clean.

Breakfast is horrendous. It's worth walking to any of the other restaurants and paying for it instead.

Pool is small but has the sun most of the day and it's quiet around it too.
But it's worth walking down to the pebble beach though as it has a nice breeze to it and looks out onto the bay Gouvia is tucked into. Nice marina as well to walk around.

beautiful hotel very clean food was excellent even for half-board & when i didn't fancy their menu they were happy to cook somethingelse up at no charge ! no problems with the wi-fi anywhere in the hotel & the rooms although basic were very clean & tidy ! the staff were only too pleased to help with any problem & even got the air-con for free (bargain) we will without a doubt be returning to this hotel very soon !

Me and my girlfriend stayed in Gouvia Hotel for 7 days in Mid-October. First of all, I would not advise staying in Corfu during October. 80% of shops, cafe's and restuatrants are closed for the season after a busy summer and the weather isn't fantastic.
Our first impressions of this hotel were very poor. We got given a key to our room and when we entered, it hadn't been cleaned since the last guests!! We soon got another room and it was quite small and basic, yet had a balcony overlooking the dirty swimming pool, which was deserted.
The manager of the hotel constantly has a cigarette in his mouth, whether he's sat behind the reception desk or in the restaurant when you're eating dinner or breakfast!
We were horrified to see him NOT wash his hands and handle our ham, cheese and bread whilst smoking and coughing in the milk... We stayed in a room close to the stairs and lobby entrance where he smoked and that was all we could smell all night!
But, it got better... the food was good, except for cats running around the kitchen and on the worktops!!!!!!!!!!!! The rooms looked as though they had never been dusted! And the plumbing was ridiculous! Holes in the ceiling above the toilet. The bathroom was TINY and hardly any room to stand to shower.
I would not stay here again.
If I was to visit Corfu again, I'd stay in a resort in the North West! We passed some amazing, remote villages with shops, restaurants and especially BEACHES in the North-Westy whilst driving around the Island!!
And a tip - GO TO ALBANIA!!!!! 25mins by ferry - 19 EUR each way! Truely eye-opening!! :D

Room Tip: Stay in the North West - we passed a village called Palaoikastrities and I would definitely stay the...

Gouvia Hotel Review
My wife and I stayed at the Gouvia Hotel in August 2011 and had a great holiday, the hotel has been renovated within the last couple of years so any earlier reviews can be disregarded. We were in room 106 which was very spacious well furnished. Rooms are cleaned daily and the whole hotel is well decorated with an Ancient Greek theme. The pool is kept clean and there were always more than enough sunbeds. The pool is large for the size of the Hotel and gets plenty of sunshine and the balconies are a good size.

The Hotel is run by a family of restaurateurs who opened the first restaurant in Gouvia over 50 years ago. There is an internal restaurant where a basic breakfast is served daily consisting of fresh bread cheese, sliced meats, cereal etc. The main a-la-carte restaurant is situated at the front of the hotel and it is superb. The menu is large with something to suit all tastes with prices ranging from about £6.00 for things like pizza's and mousaka, steak meals range from £9.00 to £13.50 and the house wines are good. While we were there the restaurant was full every night with a great atmosphere, but they will always reserve a table for hotel guests.

For a two star hotel the room rates were a bargain and in my opinion you get more than it is fair to expect. We like inexpensive clean hotels with character, good food, nice pool and good situation, that seems a lot to ask but The Gouvia Hotel ticks all those boxes. If like us you want to keep as much money in your pocket as possible to spend on the attractions Gouvia offers and your expectations are realistic you will be delighted with The Gouvia Hotel.

Corfu is about 25 minutes away and there is a regular service with the stop only a short walk away but by the time you get to Corfu the bus will be full with standing room only. I can't remember the fare but it is not expensive. You can hire a motor boat big enough for 8 at the beach for 100euro and the boat trips are good value for 20euro each. The Hotel is about 250 metres from Gouvia beach.

Room Tip: 106 and 206 are bigger than average

I have stayed in Hotel Gouvia to attend a conference held in Corfu´ city. I have chosen this hotel because it was one of the less expensive hotel close to the city center, easily reachable with public transportation.
I was very satisfied with this hotel, the room was clean, the owner nice and very helpful for any of my needs, and the food in the taverna very good (even if the dinner was not included, I always had dinner there). Moreover, relaxing in the swimming pool after every congress day was very welcome.
The only minuses I can find were the not-so-exiting breakfast, only some cheese and ham, low-quality cereals and nescafe, and the very small bathroom. These are anyway amendable sins, considering the price paid for each night.
As a final note, I was not able to connect to the free wifi, but I think it was a problem of my laptop. In any case, you can also you a shared pc, available in the hotel hall.

We stayed there for 1 week during their greek easter a wonderful time full of celebrations.
The hotel which is under new managementl had been recently renovated and the staff was very friendly and helpful. With a great choice of food and local wines it was a perfect stay. The beach just 150 mtrs away and central for bars clubs and tavernas. We will definitly come back .

Room Tip: Central location ideal for touring the island
