Best Western Hotel Frankfurt Airport
Ranked #3 of 3 Hotels in Gross-Gerau

Don't be misled by the airport name. It's not very close. While its not too far it's far enough away that getting there will invoke some cost. It's at least a 35 euro taxi ride from the airport which off sets any saving you get with the lower price. They have shuttles but they cost 15 euros a person and when I called was a two hour wait.

The hotel itself is good. Clean, front desk staff very accommodating, and they had a very good breakfast that was included in the price

To be honest I booked it only because it was the cheapest thing with roof near Frankfurt for those dates. I expected to see a proper rat hole. But... it wasn't! Yet the initial impression is as if you're approaching a grey characterless industrial office building. The front of the hotel is almost depressing, even my little kid started crying when he saw it at first and we told him we were going to sleep there for two nights. Yet as with some other german stuff this one showed its qualities only after a closer look and unlike many british and american things in the packaging box there was actualy something worthy! The staff I met were helpful, all handled english - some fluently, some to satisfactory extend. Obvoiusly they knew other languages as well, because many of the guests were non-english speaking foreigners - spanish, chinese, russians.
The car park is big enough and is free! There was breakfast included in the room price, although I have to say that the breakfast is the biggest drawback (along with the face of the building). It was same thing every morning and quite limited in choice although unrestricted in quantity. However in the hotel there is something undoubtedly very good - its rooms. For a budget hotel the room was simply great. I do not know if all the rooms are like that, but this one - couldn't be faulted. Very spacious, clean, well tought off. Qaulity double bed, quality corner sofa bed unit - double as well. Flat screen tv, unlimited (and quite fast) wi-fi. Minibar, safe, ample bathroom, adjustable light level in the room (that was cool). No problems with heating or anything untility-wise. Plenty of space for luggage, suitcases, and all kind of gear. We all found the sleeping comfort just great!
In all - if I go to Frankfurt again I would certainly keep an eye on this hotel. It is not very close to the airport though but the receptionists are with very good knowledge regarding the connections of the hotel with the important places in Frankfurt so they'd give an advise if a need be how to get easily to the places in question.

Room Tip: Mine was more than I expected and without even asking. May be all the rooms are like this!?

The Best Western Hotel Frankfurt Airport is a solid choice if you need to spend a night close to Frankfurt Main airport in order to catch an early flight or - as in my case - when you have arrived from a long intercontinental flight, and just want to catch a good night's sleep for a reasonable price before continuing your journey.

As mentioned before, the hotel is near to the Frankfurt airport, but not truly an 'airport hotel' since one can only reached it conveniently by car, and it is ca. 20 km away from FRA. The hotel is actually easy to find (just off the highway), and despite the industrial look of the hotel building it does offer a very decent room size, a good mattress and a pleasant room ambience with clean and properly furnished rooms. The service at reception is very welcoming and friendly, and there are some extra perks usually not available in German hotels - and certainly not for the price offered at Best Western (i.e. free Internet and minibar, free and ample parking spaces, coffee-to-go and a little sweet snack upon check out etc).

The breakfast on offer is very good value - just don't expect a lavishly furnished breakfast room: the restaurant looks more like a German type 'company canteen' - but it is nice enough, and the service is very good - with constant refills for beverages and a plethora of warm and cold food stuffs.

There is really not much to complain about except for the certainly recognizable bad smell in the hotel's stairways. My guess is that the building was an industrial building and the residual smell of it's old use just lingers on - since you can only recognize this in the stairways and the lift, it does not really pose a problem. The room does not have an air condition, and living in a tropical country it is easy to see why this can become a major problem during hot summers. Nevertheless, air conditioning is usually only available in 5 star properties in Germany - and thus, you basically get (or in this case do not get) what you pay for. In conclusion, the "pro's" far outweigh any "con's" in my book.

If you are looking for a romantic luxury hotel in the middle of a happening cultural and historical German city center - this is definitively the wrong choice. I would also not recommend this hotel for a special occasion (i.e. wedding, family outing or romantic getaway weekend); but who in his right mind would look for these qualities when looking at a hotel like the Best Western Hotel Frankfurt Airport: this hotel is basically a very good choice for 'motorized' business and/or single travelers on their way to or from the Frankfurt airport who do not want to spend a fortune for an overnight stay, and still look for a good night's sleep and a decent breakfast.

What you get is in fact all that - plus really fantastic service and some unexpected extra perks which make this choice of a hotel stay a really high-value-for-money package deal: for me definitively a place to return to on my next business trip to Frankfurt.

I agree with others that this hotel is not really an "airport" hotel, in that it takes 20 minutes to drive to Frankfurt Airport. We had a rental car, so it worked for us, but we did have to get up quite early and so missed the included breakfast. Since there is no airport shuttle one would have to pay the taxi fare and this would cancel out the savings of staying at this hotel. Again, as others have said, service is good and rooms are clean and comfortable. But without the air conditioning, there is a need to open the large, unscreened windows which lets in flying insects as well as the smell of diesel fuel. We had anticipated eating at the hotel restaurant, but since it was closed, we took a walk through the town of Gross-Gerau and discovered a delicious Italian restaurant (reviewed separately).....the saving grace for this hotel!

Room Tip: Ask for quiet room.

Customer Service at reception is great , Very clean and large rooms , but very noisy when you open the windows . No Air condition , breakfast used to be great in the past but now gradually getting worst , Transportation to Airport is an Issue .
No English TV channels , sometimes No restaurant on the weekends but it is advertised that there is 24/7 . Hotel management is not helpful too

Room Tip: Always ask back rooms away from Street , because early morning big trucks pass by and will wake you...

Customer service at the reception was good, as was the service in the bar/restaurant area. Food was very good. Room was clean and wifi in the rooms.
Issues are that for a hotel which also caters for non Germans, there were no English language channels on the TV, not even a news channel.
I agree with other comments about the lack of air conditioning, very hot and opening the window just lets in outside noise.
I needed to be up at 4.50am to get a taxi back to the airport, set my alarm but also asked for a wake up call, which never came. Went downstairs at about 5.15am to get my taxi to find the night concierge fast asleep.
Taxi cost me 35 euros, think the definition of an airport hotel needs to be assessed.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter.

Nudged by our GPS, we ended up here, late in the evening, driving from Geneva to The Netherlands. Reception staff was great, welcoming and efficient.

Travelling with 2 children, there was a great family room available.

Rooms are spacious and well apportioned. Breakfast was above expectations and 'yummy', considering the price range. This hotel is really value for money. Made the journey!

Room Tip: Great family rooms
