“Relaxing accommodation in the mountains.”

Australian couple early/mid 60's.

Own transport is necessary for this accommodation.

The owner's are on-site, friendly and helpful but not intrusive.

Gibson Grange is a two story gite. The ground floor has a small sitting room, kitchen, bathroom and toilet. The upper story is the bedroom.

The sitting room has a small table and 4 chairs, a couch (that can convert to a bed) a lounge chair, wood heater (wood supplied), CD player, small flat screen television and DVD player. There are no English channels but there is a large selection of English language DVD's provided along with a small selection of English language books.

In addition to the wood heater in the sitting room there is electric heating in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.

There is no safe.

The WIFI is a bit slow and one day it was not usable (continually dropping out). It was adequate for emails and surfing the net.

The kitchen contains a gas 4 burner stove and convection oven, a microwave oven, fridge, kettle, coffee maker and toaster along with cutlery, crockery and pot and pans. There is also a washing machine in the kitchen area. The bathroom and toilet open to this kitchen area.

The bathroom has a basin and shower cubical. There is no bath. The bathroom mirror has its own light fitting and is usable for shaving (me) and application of makeup (her). The water is hot with very good pressure. There are no "off smells" from the bathroom or toilet. The toilet flushes well.

The bedroom contains a double bed and a single bed. The bedding was clean and the bed comfortable. There are no reading lights at the bedhead. The stairs to the bedroom are quite steep - almost ladder-like.

The gite is advertised as sleeping four. We found it very comfortable for two persons. I suggest that the best configuration for sleeping four persons would be a couple and two young children. Four adults would need to be very good friends.

There is an outdoor sitting area with views to the mountains. A small wood fired BBQ is available for use of guests.

We based ourselves at the gite and wagon-wheeled out into the surrounding mountains. We loved our stay.

“Great getaway place!”
Reviewed August 25, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We had a great time. The gite is well equipped and Juliette and Andrew are friendly and very helpful. I think the gite would really suit small families and adults wanting to make the most of walking and cycling in the mountains. The Col de Tourmalet and the Col D'Aspin are really very close and if you fancy a base for cycling then don't hesitate with this gite. The garden, shared with the owners, is very well equipped for children and ours certainly enjoyed it! I would say that as a family of 5 we reached the limit of the gite's capacity but smaller families would be fine. The nearby villages have small shops for stocking up and there's a nearby pizza takeaway (collection only). If you enjoy the outdoors then I'm sure you'll enjoy Gibson Grange!

“An idyllic spot in which to relax and explore the spectacular mountains.”

Gibson Grange provided a perfect base for our two week holiday in the pyrennees. The gite is well equipped and provided everything we needed for a self catering break to get away from it all... switch off the mobiles, put on the walking boots and come back and relax in the garden. Andrew and Juliet, the owners, and their two delightful boys were really welcoming and helpful.
The hamlet of Gripp is in a perfect spot at the base of the Col de Tourmalet and would suit anyone wanting to enjoy the countryside in foot or bike. There are villages close by to stock up on provisions. The view from the gite is simply stunning.
We didn't want to leave!
