Two of us stayed in the apartment for 5 nights in March-April 2018 over the ‘tall ships’ weekend.
Communication with Frederic was smooth, he always replied within a day. Although my French is very limited so I did have to rely on Google Translate and my French speaking other half to read his replies.
We were greeted at the train station by Frederic’s friend, Bertrand. He gave us a very welcome lift and a good introduction to the apartment and Sète. Unfortunately due to a train strike we had to catch an early train when we left so Frederic was not available to give us a lift back to the station. This was not a problem as it was only a 15 minute walk to the station. We’ve stayed in many rental apartments and Frederic is the first to offer a lift to or from the station, so his is an exceptional level of hospitality.
The apartment is in a good location about 1 block north of the covered market. There is a bakery on the corner and many other shops nearby. The closest supermarket we found was a Monoprix about a 5 minutes walk away with a bus stop right outside it.
There are restaurants nearby, and we followed Bertrand’s recommendation to Chez Melo and ate some delicious pizza. From the outside it’s hard to tell that Chez Melo is a pizzeria and without Bertrand pointing it out we probably would not have gone in. There are many more places to eat along the quays of Sète and in Les Halles.
We walked everywhere apart from to the George Brassens museum which is a bus ride away.
The apartment is on the ground floor and the main living area is at the back of the building. We heard no street noise when we were there, and got a peaceful night's sleep every night.
The apartment is spacious with a small shower room and a separate toilet. If you are tall, over 6ft, you may find the shower cubicle a bit cramped. There were 2 double beds, and we slept comfortably on the one on the lower level. There was a clothes hanging rail with several hangers provided.
The headroom on the mezzanine level was limited and we hardly went up there. We would have watched the TV if had been on the lower level, it would have been better positioned near the seating area.
The Wi-Fi worked well during our stay. In the kitchen the microwave, oven, toaster and kettle worked well. The kitchen had all the utensils we needed during our stay, more utensils than are often provided, for example a bread knife and cutting board. Moreover, the instructions for the appliances were in the apartment.
There was enough hot water for showering and washing up. The heater in the bathroom made it cosy and the heat setting on the air conditioning worked well. We didn’t really use the patio area as it was too cold during our stay. However, it was spacious with plenty of seating.
In summary I’d recommend this spacious apartment in a good location in Sète. Moreover, Frederic offered an exceptional level of hospitality.
