The reception at the hotel is not open until 5pm. This was made clear on booking confirmation but not when booking. However, the owner saw us arrive around 4pm and let us in. He was very helpful throughout our stay and spoke excellent English. The hotel abounds with nice decorating touches, antiques being dotted around all over. It is about a 10 min walk to the main part of Sete. There was a good traditional French breakfast.
Anyone driving to Sete should know that parking is an issue everywhere there. Street parking outside the hotel is possible if a space becomes vacant. However, you wonder how the locals have fitted their cars into some of the spaces, until you realise that they use their car’s bumpers literally.

Good location - an easy stroll from the train station and an easy stroll to the restaurant/tourist areas. The hotel has wifi and a computer in the lobby that you can use. The room was a little on the small side, but I saw other rooms which were much larger. There is an elevator that services all the floors. Would stay there again if I ever returned to Sete.

Le National was a great stay. Just far enough away (no more than 8 mins walk) from the centre of town to be a relaxed, quiet and enjoyable experience. We had a car and there was always multple parking spaces available, and the train station is just at the end of the street. There were enough options available for food and drink within 100 meters to keep anyone fussy happy (although the italian restaurant next door became a favorite after a day's hiking around the town and surrounding areas). It is a distance from the beach but that was fine for us - we wanted to experience a working French port town and a beach was the last thing on our mind. The price was great, the layout of the room terrific and we loved the interior design which appeared to have been done very recently. The only suggestion would be to make the dining room available for guests after breakfast so you can find some where other than your room to read with a coffee ... But that's the owners decision is guess. all in all I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place.

Yes, the rooms are some what dated, and hotel is closed from 1pm-5pm, other then those little inconviences this hotel is an outstanding value! The gentlemen that run the hotel are great, rooms are clean, lots of hot water, and a very good breakfast! Outstanding value for your money.

We were doing a bike trip from Bordeaux along the canals to Sete and then on to Provence. We had a bit of disastrous day getting to Sete, having taken an unfortunate wrong turn, and we ended up arriving at the hotel very late...around 9:25.

Knowing that this was a small boutique hotel, we were worried that the reception would be closed when we got there. Indeed, the owner had waited a bit for us, and both of us were very glad when we made it. He was extremely gracious and helpful, storing our bikes in his own office, and making a great recommendation for a place close by that had good food.

The room was a bit unique in that the shower was not walled off from the rest of the bathroom, but overall, it was similar quality and comfort to the other 13 hotels we stayed at along the way, for a somewhat cheaper price. Super clean, super quiet, with good attention to detail by the owner. We were very pleased and would stay there again.

Sete was the furthest point on our cycle tour mainly down the canal du midi. Great place to finish with the railway station to take us back to Carcassonne! Sete is like a mixture of Amsterdam, Venice and Puerto Banus! Lots of restaurants and quayside bars. Setting sun idyllic! We cycled up to the top of the city hill in the morning which was definitely worth the effort. Anyway hotel was in good location, rooms clean, good price, not fancy but very satisfactory. Eric at reception was very helpful.
I would imagine you could pay an awful lot more in Sete for not much higher standard.

Very nice hotel with a very helpfuland obliging stuff. I appreciated, that the hotel is close to the rail-way station and also near to the centre of Sete. The afternoon break on the reception is uncovenient, but on the other side, the hotel stuff is trying to the best. I am sure, I would stay in the hotel again, when I come back to Sete. My room was not superior, but it was very clean. I had very nice stay there,

Room Tip: Tell at the reception what do you demand. I asked for a silent room and I was satisfied.
