We were doing a bike trip from Bordeaux along the canals to Sete and then on to Provence. We had a bit of disastrous day getting to Sete, having taken an unfortunate wrong turn, and we ended up arriving at the hotel very late...around 9:25.

Knowing that this was a small boutique hotel, we were worried that the reception would be closed when we got there. Indeed, the owner had waited a bit for us, and both of us were very glad when we made it. He was extremely gracious and helpful, storing our bikes in his own office, and making a great recommendation for a place close by that had good food.

The room was a bit unique in that the shower was not walled off from the rest of the bathroom, but overall, it was similar quality and comfort to the other 13 hotels we stayed at along the way, for a somewhat cheaper price. Super clean, super quiet, with good attention to detail by the owner. We were very pleased and would stay there again.

Sete was the furthest point on our cycle tour mainly down the canal du midi. Great place to finish with the railway station to take us back to Carcassonne! Sete is like a mixture of Amsterdam, Venice and Puerto Banus! Lots of restaurants and quayside bars. Setting sun idyllic! We cycled up to the top of the city hill in the morning which was definitely worth the effort. Anyway hotel was in good location, rooms clean, good price, not fancy but very satisfactory. Eric at reception was very helpful.
I would imagine you could pay an awful lot more in Sete for not much higher standard.

Very nice hotel with a very helpfuland obliging stuff. I appreciated, that the hotel is close to the rail-way station and also near to the centre of Sete. The afternoon break on the reception is uncovenient, but on the other side, the hotel stuff is trying to the best. I am sure, I would stay in the hotel again, when I come back to Sete. My room was not superior, but it was very clean. I had very nice stay there,

Room Tip: Tell at the reception what do you demand. I asked for a silent room and I was satisfied.

We have stayed at hotel Le National both in 2010 and 2011 for a few nights, and we would definitely repeat. It is a nice small, well kept family hotel, reasonally priced in comparison with others in the region. The owner is the most welcoming person, gave us very good tips about eating out and other activities. The only inconvenience were the mosquitos, but this is a comon problem for the whole Sete.

Overall a poor experience. The closure of reception in the afternoon was extremely inconvenient (yes; I should have noticed this perhaps, but this was one of about 10 booking I made and I simply could not read the small print of all of them).
My room was tiny, poorly decorated with peeling wallpaper, and sparsely furnished with poor quality bed, desk and a small cupboard (it does not merit the name "wardrobe").
There is virtually no separation between bed and bath rooms. The shower comprised a shower tray and curtains.
If my room was representative of the hotel as a whole (and I did nose into a couple of other rooms which seemed similar) I cannot understand why this establishment is top rated on this site. As a bargain basement 30E a night place it would be acceptable but at nearly twice that it is very poor value.

This hotel is near the station in a quiet street near the Moliere Theatre. It is a pleasant 10 minute walk to the centre of Sete or you can take a bus from nearby bus stop for €1.
The hotel owner was very welcoming, the room was a good size and the air conditioning was greatly appreciated. It was excellent value for money.
We enjoyed exploring Sete and visiting nearby Montpellier by train.

We are a 24year old couple who stayed here for 2 nights in August 2010 while travelling around the south of france

Great place - as in all other reviews - great location, fantastic service by the friendliest hotel owner who let us store our bikes in the lobby, gave us endless maps and information about what was going on - where to go/what to do.

Rooms were spotlessly clean - amazing value compared to others in town that we looked at. Very quiet through the night

Parking was on the street just outside the hotel - we had no problem getting a space
