What a little gem to find in such an off beat location. We were lucky enough to be in room 216, a lovely suite looking over the lake and the mountains. The room was very large with a big terrace, large bathroom and great decor.
The hotel itself is very peaceful, with lovely gardens and nicely decorated public areas. The restaurant is also of very high quality with a shaded terrace area.

Room Tip: Definitely worth paying a little extra for a lake view (even though the mountains are also beautiful...

We visit this area every year and always include one or two visits to the hotel for a meal on the terrace restaurant. Last year we felt that the standard had slipped but still visited this year hoping for a return to the excellent standard it once was. Unfortunately the service was extremely poor and the food, especially the main course, distinctly average. The hotel is in a stunning location, but sadly the restaurant has lost our custom.

I had the opportunity stay at this hotel for two nights while visiting friends who have a holiday home in the area. A 45 minute pre-booked taxi (€65) from the airport brought me to this lovely hotel on Lake Vinuela. The hotel itself is beautifully designed and decorated. The views of the lake were simply stunning from the "selection" room. The room was clean and quiet. The bed was very comfortable and the linens and towels were soft and fresh. The room also included a nicely stocked mini bar. I was slightly disappointed with the soaps/lotions/shampoos--they were low quality and I think in such a nice hotel it would be nice to have more high end toiletries.

Breakfast that was in the cafe outside was good--all the basics that you expect in a standard continental. You were able to order various "egg" choices as well. Be mindful of the birds as they like to share your breakfast and tableware while eating.

I did eat in the restaurant for dinner which was very good.

All the grounds are lovely and well manicured. There are 2 pools on the property. One for hotel guest and another semi-public pool which people (locals) can pay to swim. That pool was very crowded and loud. Although I was not able to hear the public pool when in the hotel pool so no issues.

It is a bit out of the way but well worth the visit if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation.

After being told about it we decided to give the Hotel a try, so I can only agree with the others...A little bit of heaven.
Rooms are large and very comfortable. and the terrace is a bonus with fantastic views of the lake and distant nountains

The only thing I missed was the complementary tea & coffee tray that one finds in most hotels. And I do have one negative point that applies to hotels of this quality, it is the the price of drinks from the mini bar, I guarantee if they reduced prices to a sensible level they would sell more.
But I guess if you are a Banker you don;t have to worry...

Room Tip: The ones overlooking the lake are great but it has a pool in front, so if you are not one who likes...

We stayed here for a wedding to be held at the hotel although we have eaten at the hotel restaurant on a number of occasions. To reach the Hotel from Malaga airport takes around one hour & the roads are good all the way. The first thing to cover in this review has to be the setting - it is easy to see from the hotel website how stunning the views are from this hotel. The hotel lawn overlooks the beautiful Lake Vinuela - in previous years drought has left this depleted but the last couple of years has seen it full with lush colourful vegetation all around. The hotel grounds themselves are beautifully landscaped & maintained making it the perfect setting for a wedding. There is plenty to do in the area visiting the typical Pueblos Blancos or some fantastic walks through the national parks. The coast is just a short drive away for a day at the beach.

Our room was a large suite & well appointed - decorated in a traditional style so has plenty of character & charm. There are other rooms in the hotel which have a more modern & contemporary feel if you prefer but both styles are excellent. Given the location every room has an excellent view - both the lake & the mountains are breathtaking! Happily we had a view of both so could enjoy the best of both worlds! The opulent decoration extends to the rest of the hotel with lovely lounge & dining areas & well maintained pool area.

Obviously the wedding will not be of relevance to most travellers reading this but suffice to say it was stunning. Unfortunately the weather was a little cloudy on the day but you can't really blame a hotel for that! The hotel did an amazing job with the organisation - everything ran smoothly without a hitch & the guests all had a great time. Indeed feedback from a number of guests was that this was the best wedding they had ever attended! A special mention has to go to Maria Ruz & her team for running the big day in such a professional manner. The waiting staff all did a great job & apologies for not getting all the names however we have always found David to be friendly & courteous whilst Paco did an amazing job at the wedding bar keeping everyone well looked after with the drinks!

The food at the wedding was great - there is little to beat Iberian pork – and the guests left full & satisfied. However the food is just as good at the restaurant where the staff are again friendly & attentive. The food is great & there is a decent wine list full of excellent Rioja & Ribero Del Duero. You can even choose to eat outside on the terrace where you can watch the sun set over the lake.

The setting is amazing, all the staff are friendly and the hotel is an ideal place to get away from it all. Highly recommend & we will certainly be visiting again in the near future.

we went here for diner on our holiday and were VERY happy with the food . I even took a picture of the dish and menu as i liked it so much. The hotel is a lovely calming super luxurious place with brilliant views and staff that are very helpfull but leave you to have a romantic diner at the same time. The pool is gorgeous and a real suntrap. it is also very clean and quiet (NO KIDS!!!)

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking the lake if possible :)

I have just rerturned from a one night stay in this hotel and felt that it was the least I could do to inform all the Trip advisor fans, just what a perfect hotel in the country this was....
Words could not begin to describe such a beautiful hotel, with an attencion to detail which could only be known as second to none.........Right from the exceptionally proffesional staff,Vanessa and Eva in reception,to restaurante and bar staff, all only to willling to assist, and make their guests stay one to be remebered for all the right reasons,The service in the hotel restaurante, not only during our evening meal, but also at breakfast was perfect with first class produce all prepared to order ,fresh ,hot and with wonderful presentation.Cleanliness of the rooms and hotel in general should also be highlighted.
The rooms are decorated very tastefully and extreemly confortable, you will love the underfloor heating in the bathroom if visiting as we did in the cooler months.....We were lucky enough to have booked a room with views of the reservoir,(room 218) and were able to obtain our one night stay at almost half the suggested price due to an offer that we got by booking directly through the hotel!!!!!!!For those who enjoy reading pay a visit to the gorgeous ,comfy library...and if you are lucky enough to visit in the summer months I feel sure that you will love the gardens and pool area...
My husband (due to work commitments)has to visit hotels around the area and was completely taken back by this hotel and its service for the price paid.
Needless to say we will certainly be reccomending this little bit of paradise to all our friends and family.......
