Found this hotel by accident while driving back to the ferry port to get home, a real serendipity.
Got there late on a very hot afternoon without pre-booking, the hotel owner, who couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant, greeted us in reception, showed us the the rooms and carried our heavy bags.
The hotel was once a very large house and still retains that character, the internal decoration being what one would expect for a manoir of the period, 18th Century, with lots of Matisse prints and other almost quirky decorations.
The bedroom we had was enormous with a comfortable king size bed, plenty of storage space, comfortable seats and table ideal for using the computer with their free WiFi bathroom which was almost as large as the bedroom was well kitted out. Both rooms had extensive views over the gardens and the river below.
The breakfasts was quite adequate and plentiful and in the evening the food quality and presentation was as good as any we have had at 4 and 5 star hotels and the waiter very presentable and helpful. The eating experience was made even better by the weather being so good we were able to eat outside in the garden.
The only thing that would have enhanced our stay (because of the hot weather) would have been air conditioning but with the large windows open wide and the shutters closed the rooms remained quite comfortable.
Would we stay there again? You bet!

Room Tip: Choose the first floor front in the main building for lovely views across the gardens, the river and...

We had not booked our overnight accommodation while passing through the region. We had a 'standard' room which did not have the veiw of the river, but the ground floor room was spacious and comfortable, as well as being very blue (walls and bed covering!). We had a veiw from the window of the oldest part of the town. The welcome was friendly and the meal in the restaurant was of good quality, and lovely veiw of the river, service excellent. Breakfast was well laid out and good. The town had some very interesting places to visit for the time we were there.

This hotel, situated in the town center and is really a cute place. Nice garden, view on the river mayenne... In this beautiful house we can imagine to leave 200 years before ! A lot of colour to give some fun, a good mariage of modern and old charm. The team is really welcoming. If you want to have a vintage week end, don't hesitate to stay in this hotel.

Stay here with a cycling group whilst they had a sculpture exhibition in the garden. huge rooms, very strange coloured decor, but good staff. Evening meal excellent. A good stop stop in a historic 17th & 19th century house

The hotel is slowly changing to decent hotel standards in every respect
Food is better than alright providing you do not eat there everyday - repetitive menu
One can consider it overpriced but in the area all hotels - regardless the price- are overpriced with respect to their in house standards
View and location are nice though not much to see downtown
Colorfool place that will become a better hotel throughout times - I hope
