Found this hotel by accident while driving back to the ferry port to get home, a real serendipity.
Got there late on a very hot afternoon without pre-booking, the hotel owner, who couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant, greeted us in reception, showed us the the rooms and carried our heavy bags.
The hotel was once a very large house and still retains that character, the internal decoration being what one would expect for a manoir of the period, 18th Century, with lots of Matisse prints and other almost quirky decorations.
The bedroom we had was enormous with a comfortable king size bed, plenty of storage space, comfortable seats and table ideal for using the computer with their free WiFi bathroom which was almost as large as the bedroom was well kitted out. Both rooms had extensive views over the gardens and the river below.
The breakfasts was quite adequate and plentiful and in the evening the food quality and presentation was as good as any we have had at 4 and 5 star hotels and the waiter very presentable and helpful. The eating experience was made even better by the weather being so good we were able to eat outside in the garden.
The only thing that would have enhanced our stay (because of the hot weather) would have been air conditioning but with the large windows open wide and the shutters closed the rooms remained quite comfortable.
Would we stay there again? You bet!
