Owners friendly and very helpful. Garaged parking for motorbike. Room dated, basic but clean but smelt a little stale. Bed comfortable enough. Our room faced inwards to fire escape so quiet. Good wifi in bedroom. Didn't eat here in the evening but breakfast was good. Good for stopover but could do with a refurb in bedrooms.

We had a one night stay on the way from Lyon to the UK. This was a pleasant hotel in a very pleasant little town that ended up being further from the motorway than was ideal. Our family of five had two rooms, The beds were comfortable, the rooms basic but OK (no tea or coffee making facilities) and very small bathrooms. For a one night stopover it was adequate. The service was very friendly (English at front desk was also good) and the restaurant excellent - a superb boeuf bourguignon and my wifes filet de bar 'the best fish she had had in a long time'
(Incidentally, I indicated a rating for a pool by mistake - there is no pool)

Stayed at La Poste for four nights. Cannot fault this hotel - clean and comfortable room, friendly staff (enough English spoken to compensate for our very basic French), excellent food (we ate in the restaurant two nights and had the regional menu on both occasions, wine pricey but good). Convenient free parking immediately across the road from the hotel. Will definitely use this hotel if in the area again.

Hotel de la Poste in Vitry is just far enough from Calais to make your trip from UK to more sunnier climes in southern France, or—as it was on this occasion—Switzerland, seem well under way. Although the rooms are fine but not splendid, the restaurant is truly excellent. We enjoyed one of the best dinners we had in our recent one week trip. The food was top notch, starting with an unheralded amuse bouche consisting of a very subtle radish-based whipped cream concoction we found delicious. Significantly, it drew volumes of praise from the locals at an adjacent table. The other courses were of the same very high standard, washed down as is customary in France with a "noble" house red for my wife, and a very palatable local beer for myself.
The hotel is situated close to the Church of Our Lady (see photo), an impressive place of worship in the centre of Vitry. It's the size of a cathedral but is known only as a church. If you have time go inside; it's well worth it.

Room Tip: Don't be fussy. They're all much the same - adequate!

We stayed In La Poste for 2 nights as we were visiting family in Vitry le Francois. We had a family room as we like to have a suite if possible. This is a small family run hotel, the room was good in size and very clean we have stayed here on other occasions the staff are very helpfull and all though there english is limited we can get by . Well positioned for the center of town.We did not eat in the restraurant at the hotel but have done in the past and the food was 5*. We tend to use another restraurant that is owned by the family la Grilladene as we take our grandaughter out for supper. You can park your car most often just in front of the hotel, which is VGood.

Room Tip: We have stayed in several rooms and all are about the same for street noise levels

3 hours driving from Calais, brought us to this quaint town in the middel of France. The hotel is ideally located in the centre with secure garage parking not too far away. The rooms were very clean and quiet.

The restaurant looked lovely and the menu was well priced. Very little english spoken here, but we got by with our little conversational french, lots of smiling and hand gestures!

We stayed her on the homeward journey and if we ever head back down this way again, we'll be certain to call in.

Room Tip: Free wi-fi throughout and a hairdryer in the bathroom were helpful features

Found this hotel in the Logis book. We had not pre-booked but they had rooms, for my parents a double and my husband and I a twin room. My parents are both in their eighties and we are both disabled.
Our rooms were on the 1st floor but thankfully a small lift served it. Our rooms were really lovely, bright and clean the bathrooms were excellent, they both had jacuzzis and bath robes as well as towels. Our beds had bolsters which I hadn't seen for years thankfully spare pillows were found in the wardrobes. The free WiFi worked a treat.
Staff we really pleasant and some spoke a little English but you had to hunt them down if you wanted a drink in the bar. The lady who eventually served us told us they did not keep Jack Daniels until I pointed to it on the shelf.
We decided to stay in for the evening and make use of there restaurant as a lot of people were arriving. We found on the table in the foyer a menu for todays meal. After an hour trying to translate it we had finally all chosen what to have. A waiter came to take our order who spoke no English. He could not understand what we wanted so we pointed to the menu. He then dissapeared and returned with the reception staff who explained that we had been reading the menu for another day and what we had chosen was not available that day. Even though it was raining we had to find a restaurant in town as we did not like anything on the correct days menu (which had an English translation).
We then had the same problem in the restaurant as the menu was only in French and no-one spoke any English. We have previously only travelled in Northern France and never had a problem with the language before, even our pidgeon French had been understood before.
We learned our lesson and for the rest of the week chose hotels where we could check out the menu first and used their restaurants.
After returningfrom our evening meal we wanted a drink in the bar but, it was closed. We asked at reception and was offered the seats in the foyer and drinks were brought to us. There were still 8 people enjoying drinks around one table in the restaurant, but we felt rather odd with our coats on in reception with guests still arriving late and giving us strange looks.
The nearby Cathedral can be rather loud when the bells ring, I should think a lay-in on a Sunday is impossible.
