“Aside from the noise of a local band at the weekend, this is a good choice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2014

Based on the reports on TripAdvisor, this is a well regarded hotel, and for the most part I would endorse the positive observations previous guests have made. It is certainly good value, and that is always an important criterion. Throughout my stay, the Reception staff were welcoming and helpful; the room to which I was assigned was very clean, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom good. The food is really excellent. I didn't try the lunch in the restaurant on the ground floor, but I regret I didn't as it looked wonderful. The queue of people waiting outside the door for a free table clearly indcated that the high quality of the food and cooking are widely known by the locals.

One minor problem for me, at least for the first couple of hours, was the unusual locking system for the rooms. Ask the guy who takes you to your room on your arrival to demonstrate how the lock works. if you don't, you might find, as I did when I returned to the room after a short time away, that you activate a signal suggesting something is wrong. One of the staff came along and demonstrated how to close the door correctly. It took a while to get used to. As I say, this is not a serious problem.

One of the nights I was staying at The Grand Thakar was a Sunday. From about 8:30 to 10pm there was band playing below the room I was occupying. I'm guessing the band was in the banquet hall on Level 1, but it could have been a nearby restaurant or hotel. Whatever the case, only the thudding sound of a very monotonous drum beat was audible. It was very unpleasant. It's hard to know what a hotel does about this when it is trying to serve the wishes of 2 groups of guests with very different needs. My advice, for the sake of hotel guests, would be for management to reduce the amplification, and to hire a drummer with a little more musical imagination!

These issues aside, this is a good choice of accommodation in Rajkot.

Recently we stayed at the Grand Thakar hotel. Wow what a hotel for the value. The food is amazing. The hotel is clean. We received a wonderful service from the staff. My brother celebrated his 50th birthday party there. what a service wow i was so impressed with the amazing food and service for the price. I would go back again.

Room Tip: WE had a room at the back. It was nice and quiet.

This is an average hotel for stay in Rajkot.
The room had no window.
I was in 310 room number.

The linen was not fresh and far from crisp.

A few mosquitoes.

Got car parking - that was good.

May not stay here again if I visit Rajkot again.

Travel to Gujrat ,Saurashtra, entailed a night stay at RAJKOT ,zeroed in on this hotel after going thru reviews on trip advisor.
True to the review the stay was perfect for a night.
The true revelation was the adjoining restaurant because it served the Gujrati food, excellent food and such fast service.
Loved the overnight stay with family in a warm bed.
Otherwise also the people of RAJKOT are soft spoken.
Will visit again.

This was my second stay at the TGT and i have never received such quality service anywhere in the world, me and my family have stayes in many hotels around the world but this has to be at the top of our list.

The reason i say this is because the way we are welcomed, the quality and cleanliness of the hotel, the friendly staff, the location and overall service is unbelieveable!!! To get all this together is very rare but i can guarentee you that this is only available at the TGT.

I would like to mention Bhumika Bhindi, she looked after us as if we were her family and i have never seen such respect and attitude by anyone. She is the best ever !!!!

A MUST STAY HOTEL IN RAJKOT!!

I was leaving Gujrat to go back to college and took my relatives for dinner to the restaurant. It was my treat :) We were ten of us and it was a Wednesday but the place was packed. I suggest you to reserve yourself a table over the phone even if its a weekday. We finally got in after waiting for fifteen minutes and ordered four curries, lots of naan and roti, rice, daal and lassi. The food was delicious and the bill came to 1600 which was pretty reasonable since the place was fancy and the food so good!
