This hotel of Sarovar group does not live upto the expectations of the the group. The Hotel is located in centre of Rajkot at Limda Chowk. Railway station and airport are easily accessible. Rooms are neat and clean.
Positves:
1. Clean and spacious rooms.
2. Mini bar and Tea Facility in room
3. Internet connectivity for business traveller
4. Non-Veg Food available on the roof top restaurant
Negatives:
1. Paneer used in the dishes was very hard and chewy. Not great and disappointment for north Indian food lovers.
2. Idli in the break fast is also hard and not soft
3. The staff is confused and do not have right information. e.g. Front desk staff was not aware of any tie up with Jet Airways Priviliedge Programme, they did not have mobile chargers or charging stations.
4. The pickup and drop drivers pro-actively ask for tips while dropping at airport. This bring down the image of such a good hotel.
5. No proper signage of Hotel Name on the building. It difficult to locate the hotel for first time.
6. You need to demand some basic ammenities in bath room like comb, shaving kit or tooth kit. These are not readily placed in the bathroom.

Above reviews are as on February 1, 2012.

Room Tip: All rooms are equally good.

We used this hotel to transit to Gir forest; First shock 11 people waiting at the airport ( a courteous driver) but had only one car which could seat 4 people not considering the luggage. Our car arrived 30 minutes after waiting in the cold and insensitive front desk "operator" to check us in. The General manager has no idea whats happening in the hotel nor is interested. We were informed he never visits during public holidays (dont get fooled by the name on the Sarovar website). Its pointless to have a Manager who is not sensitive to feedback (the driver at the airport called him when the faux pax was made by the front desk operator). Even their cloth napkins from room service and the restaurant are full of stains and filth. Sarovar is going the KIngfisher way.Stay at your own risk

Room Tip: Never ask for a pick up and dont risk dining here.

I stayed in this hotel from 15/1/2012 to 21/1/2012 at Room 414. By far, this was the best hotel I have stayed in India.

I attended a friend's wedding in Rajkot and some of the guests were placed in this hotel. What an excellent choice!!!

Here is my 6 nights of experience at Sarovar Portico, Rajkot:

a) Location : The hotel is less than 5 minutes away from Rajkot Aiport. Acessible to quite a number of restaurants and shopping area.

b) Service : This is what made the whole 6 nights in this hotel so worthwhile!! Excellent customer service!! From the housekeeping guys to the front desk staffs and duty managers in the breakfast hall.. All queries were handled impeccably. I must mention one of front desk staff, Himanshu - a very nice guy who never grew tired on my queries especially when I had to make some urgent international calls and the phone line in my room was not functioning. He was very patient throughout the whole time that I had to use the phone at the reception counter. Great service!! The duty managers in the breakfast hall were also very attentive and never failed to greet me and asked me how my stay so far had been since I was travelling solo.

c) Price : The price of the hotel seems reasonable for Rup 3000.

d) Breakfast : A really good breakfast spread with a variety of selection from fresh juices to cereals to cakes and desserts.. They also make omelettes on request.

e) Room : The room is very spacious and extremely clean!! No stench whatever - that you may experience in certain hotels in India.. The toilet and bathroom was clean and adequate with the required facility. I loved the contemporary design of the hotel and it was very cosy!!

f) Overall : I'm very proud that most of the hotel staffs can speak good English as it is really helps travellers like me who cannot understand/speak the local Gujerati/ Hindi language. The hotel is still new but hopefully the good service and cleanliness is continuously maintained.

Keep up the good service !! I will definitely stay here if I was to visit Rajkot again!!! Thanks for making my stay in Rajkot a pleasant experience!!

Room Tip: If you are checking out especially in the morning, you may want to head out a lil earlier as there is only one person handling the counter and may take some time if there are too many people checking out at the same time :)

Recently stayed at this hotel for two days. Rajkot is a medium size city of Gujarat, about 250 KM south west of the capital Ahmedabad. It is a good base to explore various parts of Saurastra such as Gir Forest for Lion Safari, the old princely states of Gondal, Morbi, Vankaner etc, Porbandar the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi and the temple of Somnath.

The Sarovar Portico is a new addition to the Sarovar hotels' chain, just three months old and well located in the heart of the city. Some of the attractions of the city such as the Watson museum, the house where Mahatma Gandhi stayed , Alfred school where he studied for some time and the famous palace road for shoppig are all within two Km radius. The bus terminus from where one can get buses to various parts of Gujarat is just across the road.

The hotel room was very clean, well furnished with all the modern amenities and quiet. The reception and kitchen staff were exceptionally kind and did all that can be done to make my stay comfortable including catering for my special dietary need. The breakfast and dinner menu was quite extensive and included the local dishes. The food was quite reasonably priced too.

Keep up the good work Sarovar Portico, Rajkot and I will certainly visit again with my family !!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back would be quiter as it is away from from the street, although the street facing rooms have good view of the city.

My mum and I stayed here for 3 weeks in November. I had the most amazing experience. From bell person to management, everyone was so nice and helpful. Rooms are nice size, shower really nice, food was great. Nothing was too much trouble, from the moment I checked in to the moment I left. Well done Sarovar Portico, I felt so welcomed. I miss you Shaloo, Amit. Akash and the rest :)

Room Tip: Choose higher floor as the Hotel is in the middle of town, noise can travel.
