I have stayed here in the summer of 2009. A clean family inn, at the entrance of Argassi resort, 5 min to the beach. We have served only breakfast at the hotel and it was very simple and always the same :(. The rooms were cleaned every day, had air-conditioning but bring something for the mosquito :). I recommend it if you just want a good & clean bed, to have the liberty of enjoying the resort restaurants (and they are a lot - exactly near the hotel there was a very good fish restaurant).

Family Inn is located in Argassi- seaside suburb of Zakynthos town, main town of the same-name Greek island. From the center of Zakynthos town to the hotel it was about 4 kilometers. From hotel to sea cost - only 5 minutes walk, actually just to cross the main street and a churchyard. It was supposed to be a beach, but I was disappointed by Argassi beach. It was very narrow, dirty and shallow. So if your aim is a beach vacation, hotel and Argassi town is not the best choice. But if you have a car or a bike, the hotel might be a good base for exploring the island. Hotel provides simple budget and clean accommodation. Argassi town has a lively nightlife, dining, shopping. Various travel agents are ready to sell numerous trips to sites around the island. Nice beaches on the other parts of island could be easy reached by car or bike. There are public buses as well, running to Vasileos and Zakynthos town, which is a bus hub to other island destinations, but they are not frequent. Hotel has a car parking and a small pool. Drinks are on offer at pool bar. Simple breakfast was served every morning. However it was dreary - just toasts, eggs, muesli and instant coffee or tea. So I think to diversify breakfast would be for better. Hotel and reception staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was comfortable although rather dim, with en suite bathroom and a balcony opened on a back side. Air-conditioning is charged extra. Free wi-fi.
Considering that we got a super deal price on a tour package from travel agency, were all right with much walking and bus trips in order to reach various places on the island, we were satisfied by our stay. However would unlikely come back again to Argassi in the future.

Went for our 10th wedding anniversary and thought the hotel was just great. Basic but comfortable room, great view, quiet location. The family who run the hotel could not have been nicer or more welcoming. Argassi is beautiful - the sea so clear and warm and the places to eat wonderful but disappointed in the much praised Peppermint due to the snippy attitude of the waitress - and we had much better food elsewhere especially at Zorbas where we even got a free anniversary cake complete with sparklers!Beware of the cost of things though - we ended up spending around £100 a day on basic food as we were room only. The breakfast in the hotel was the only downside - very disappointing. Fell in love with the island and the people - but it costs!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool - it's quiet and the prettiest view if on 3rd floor as we we...

I just came back from Argassi, Family Inn, where we stayed for a whole week.
First of all, I am surprised to learn that people went there knowing it was a 2* and found it as nice as a 3*-one. That is because the Romanian travel agency told us it was a 3* hotel and actually I would place it in the 2nd class.
We had half-board. Breakfast next to the reception desk, pretty decent: two loaves of toast, one loaf of ham, one loaf of cheese (nothing traditional, just the cheapest kind, if you ask me), butter, jam, tea, instant coffee, one glass of orange juice. All these on a tray and a kind of buffet: milk, cheapest corn flakes, chocolate butter, omelette/boiled eggs and cake. Pretty decent, I said. But... 7 days in a row to have exactly the same menu???
Dinner, at "Peppermint" tavern: salad [tsatsiki one or two times and the rest, Greek salad - tomatoes, olives (4 or 5, precisely numbered each time!), some onion], second course on choice. Even the salad, sometimes we got one each, and sometimes one portion per two! We had souvlaki the first evening, pasta (just basic, nothing traditional; the only time we chose sth else then plain steak), pork steak, grilled steak, one time chicken in the oven, some beef burgers and some meatballs in red sauce (lucky us, we missed that evening, since it was on choice with burgers!). Each time, except for the pasta of course and the meatballs, anything you would choose was accompanied by fries, the same frozen type... Now I and my whole family will surely not even want to hear about FRIES!
No drink included, not even plain water, even if it is really really cheap in any supermarket, so we always had draft beer (Mythos), the small one was 2,50 euros, the large one 3 euros, so everybody went for the large one.
Sometimes, I guess because we always also spent there 25-35 euros, not just came and went away like the majority, we received on the house some fruit: about 10 grapes, five small pieces of water melon and two or three pieces of melon (we were 6 persons).
On the whole, if you can choose between half-board, B&B or room only, I recommend: room only, B&B and only if you have a convenient tourist package, like we had (so we had no choice), take half-board.
Now, for the rooms: as many people here already said, quite noisy, the triple room in which our paremts stayed (with 3 small beds) was smaller than our double room, with double bed and a supplementary single bed for the child, but both of them noisy, close to the street and having old doors at the balcony. Furniture: pretty old. Towels: pretty grey and spotted (they were originally white) and changed only once in 7 days. Bed sheets: ok.
Personnel: ok, especially Maggie, very willing to help each time.
Pool: we only stayed there once for a cup of cappuccino. We really do not waste our time at the pool when we go to the seaside.

Stayed at the Family inn 2nd to 16th Sept with our friends, from the moment we arrived the greetings were lovely. Spent the first 4 days around the large well kept pool no problems for sunbeds plenty of them .Started with the full english breakfast ,absolutely faultless.A nice choice also for lunch and very good value [chicken pitta] several times.all the food cooked fresh by Dassia or Maggi. Spoke to plenty of other guests that were returning year after year and it is quickly clear to see why.Hopefully if all goes well we will be joining them. No need to venture far as there is a very good restaurant next door for your evening meal [ called Peppermint] All in all a absolutely lovely holiday made by stopping in a Hotel run by a very lovely family and not forgetting Dassia
Hope to see you and all your family again

We have just returned from a two week stay at the Family Inn Hotel& what a wonderful two weeks stay we had. We booked a Thompson's late deal via an agent and we were room only.

Rooms
The room we had overlooked the pool & had a sea view, something many hotels charge extra for. We had a double bed & a single bed in the room. There was a fridge which was an added bonus. There was no kettle but if you wanted one then just ask Maggie & she'd organise that for you. There is air conditioning available also for an extra charge.
The bathroom consider of a shower, toilet & washbasins. The shower was quite good in comparison to other hotels we've been in in Greece. I will say that the shower area with the curtain round did seem quite small but the bathroom itself was designed more as a wet area so this wasn't a problem.
The bed was comfortable & quite large.
There was plenty of hanging space for clothes, 4 small drawers in the bedside cabinets & vanity table and 2 large drawers in the wardrobe. There was a good sized mirror above the vanity unit & one in the bathroom. The hairdryer was quite good too, many hairdryers in hotels are quite poor so I always take my portable one that is quite powerful but didn't need to use it.
The rooms were cleaned most days, towels were changed every 2 days & our bedding was changed several times during the holiday.
The balcony had a small table and two chairs.

Hotel

As we were room only we ate at the poolside bar for breakfast, this opened every morning at 9.00am.
Dassia was the one who usually did the cooking would do most things for you on request. The best value for money though was the full English breakfast, this was €6 and you got, 2 rashers bacon, 2 sausage, 2 eggs, hash browns, mushrooms, beans, 2 slices toast, a glass of orange & a cup of tea! Enough to fill you until late afternoon!

The pool was amazing, always spotlessly clean and crystal clear. You could see that this was their pride & joy. There was always plenty of beds to choose & each pair of beds had a small table & a brolly for shade. The hotel did have mats for the beds at an extra charge of €1.50 a day if you wanted more comfort.

The staff

What more could you want, Maggie was the centre pin for us, she is the Daughter of the owners & this is very much a family run establishment. They really couldn't do enough to help, Maggie was also a wealth of knowledge to us especially when we hired a car giving us information on the beaches & places to visit. Dassia was also a gem, she worked mainly in the poolside cafe & doing a sterling job.
We can't praise them enough, they all work extremely hard & deserve to succeed. This shows in the amount of people we met who have returned to this hotel year after year, some for 20 years!
There were some lovely personal touches too & this make all the difference, thank you!

Location

The hotel is located at the Zante Town end of Argassi & right next door to a wonderful restaurant called the Peppermint.
Zante Town was about a 20-30 minute walk or a 5 minute drive if you have a car.
There are many bars & restaurants within a 5-15 minute walk through Argassi itself. The beach area, although not the best of beaches was just across the main road down the side of the church.
Argassi itself seemed to be suffering a little with the recession, some bars and restaurants through the resort had closed down & were starting to look run down.
Prices were not too bad, a large beer averaged at about €2.50 and a meal for four of us, all adults was costing us around €50 including drinks.
The hotel is across the road from the lovely scenic church which on Sundays does ring it's bells with a call to mass.

All in all this hotel is a little gem and worthy of more than 2 stars!
In summary if you want a holiday suitable for couples or families in an area away from the main road, near enough for restaurants & bars then this is the place to come.
An excellent hotel.
